Acclaimed Australian chef Jeremy Strode dies
Acclaimed Australian chef and restaurateur Jeremy Strode has died after taking his own life, aged 54.
The news was confirmed by Merivale, where Strode was head of Bistrode CBD, which is part of the Merivale group.
British-born Strode was a well-loved member of the Australian hospitality community. He opened his first restaurant, Pomme, in South Yarra, Melbourne, before moving to MG Garage in Sydney in 2002.
He opened Bistrode in 2005 in Surry Hills with his wife, Jane, also an acclaimed chef, before teaming up with Merivale to bring Bistrode to the CBD.
Regarded as a mentor, he inspired many young chefs in his time and leaves an indelible mark on the food scene of Australia.
Strode leaves behinds his wife and three children. The family asks that any donations be made to RU OK?, the charity he took part in.
