Flourless chocolate cake

It doesn’t take a lot of time, money, ingredients or effort to make this tasty, flourless chocolate cake that everyone in the family will be able to enjoy.

Method:

  1. To begin, preheat your oven to 160°C and prepare a 6cm deep, 22cm round cake pan, by greasing and lining the base and sides with baking paper.
  2. Place butter and chocolate in heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water (low heat) and stir until smooth. It’s important to make sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water. 
  3. Beat egg yolks and 1/2 cup of sugar with an electric mixer until thick and creamy.
  4. Beat eggwhites in separate bowl until soft peaks form, gradually beating in the rest of the remaining sugar until it has dissolved into the mixture.
  5. Add chocolate mixture to egg yolk bowl and mix to combine.
  6. Add about a quarter of the eggwhite mixture and mix well.
  7. Fold in remaining eggwhite mixture, then pour into the pan.
  8. Bake for around about 50 minutes, cool then serve.
