The only ANZAC biscuits recipe you'll ever need
ANZAC biscuits are no doubt an Aussie and New Zealand classic and they’re super easy to make.
Historically, the golden cookies were typically made at home to sell for fund-raising, or to serve at other events help to raise money for the war effort.
Try this recipe as you reflect on the National Day of Remembrance.
Ingredients:
- 1 + 1/4 cups plain flour, sifted
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 3/4 cup desiccated coconut
- 150g unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 + 1/2 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp bicarb soda
Method:
- Preheat oven to 170C
- Place flour, oats, coconut and sugar in a large bowl and stir to combine
- In a small saucepan place the golden syrup and butter and stir over low heat until butter is fully melted.
- Mix bicarb soda with 1 + 1/2 tbsp of water and add to the golden syrup mixture.
- Pour into the dry ingredients and mix together until fully combined.
- Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls and place them on baking trays lined with nonstick baking paper, press down on the tops to flatten slightly.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
