Add colour to your home (without painting)
If you are renting, or just don’t have the time or inclination to pull out a paintbrush, there are still plenty of ways to add a splash of colour to your home. Here are some of our ideas:
- A huge bowl of lemons or limes can add a bright and fresh feel to your home. Don’t just limit them to the kitchen, you can even use it as a table centerpiece.
- Flowers never fail to lift the mood in a room. Instead of a traditional vase, try new ways of showcasing your blooms such as a floating flower arrangement or a single flower in a small glass.
- Remove cupboard doors in the kitchen, or use a strategically placed panel of glass instead. By putting the contents of the cupboard on display you can liven up the room by showing off colourful glassware or a brightly coloured interior.
- A single feature wall using bright or patterned wallpaper is a very affordable option. This even works well in the bathroom.
- A piece of art can look stunning on a plain coloured wall or in an entrance hall, and will offer a great talking point when guests arrive.
- Everyday items such as cups, plates, candles and tablecloths can be purchased in various colours to add interest and colour to your dining area.
- Liven up a plain white wall in the loungeroom with a brightly coloured sofa, textured cushions and throw rugs.
