3 easy-to-make place cards

When planning your next dinner party, why not take a cue from Mother Nature and give one of these nature-inspired place cards a try. They’ll leave your guests delighted, naturally!

1. Apple leaf place card

These apple place cards are quick and easy. Just cut out a leaf shape on printer paper as a template. You may have to make leaves of different sizes, depending on the length of your friends’ names. Next trace the leaf over black paper. You will need two for every guest. Use a white or silver marker to write your guests’ names and cut out. You can put a first and last name on each leaf, or if you have multiple tables, use the second leaf as the table name. Bend leaves to give them a more natural feel. Pierce your two leaves with a corsage pin, and secure into an apple where the leaves would naturally stem. That’s it!

2. Gilded leaf place card

These gold gilded leaf cards look formal, but they’re so inexpensive and simple to make! Just use real or synthetic leaves and paint with gold spray paint. When dry, use a permanent marker to write your guest’s name.

3. Gilded animal place card

Following the gold and nature trend, these animal place cards are both elegant and cute. For this one, you’ll need a variety of plastic animal figurines (one per guest), gold spray paint, a nail file, a serrated knife or small saw, and place cards. Try to choose animals with sturdy, symmetrical builds so your cards stay up. Using your blade, cut a small slice into the animal where the card will fit in. If this leaves the animal with any rough edges, file it down with the nail file. Next, spray paint the animal gold. Let dry. Insert your named place card, which you can print or hand-write, and you’re done.
