How to paint drawers with graduated colour

Breathe new life into an old chest of drawers with this eye-catching paint technique.

You will need:

Choosing your colours:

When choosing your colours, visit a hardware store and find your colour palette by looking at their paint sample cards.

You can then buy a selection of sample pots in the graduated darker to lighter colours.

Alternatively you could buy one colour you like and some white, and then mix the white in to make your various shades.

For the frame of the drawers, either choose a crisp white (if you are using pale colours or pastels for the drawers) or a darker charcoal colour (if your drawers are to be stronger colours).

How to:

1. Place the drop sheet or newspaper down and put your drawers on top.

2. Paint the frame of your drawers with your chosen colour.

3. Paint each drawer a different colour, going from dark at the bottom to light at the top. Use a fresh paintbrush for each drawer.
