3 simple ways to clean smelly Tupperware
Most households have some sort of Tupperware in it – those plastic tubs are hard to beat when it comes to storing your food.
But therein lies the trouble, if you’ve stored a meal such as a curry or egg mayonnaise, there is a good chance you’ve encountered the dreaded ‘stinky tub’ syndrome.
The good news is that there are simple ways to get rid of any nasty smell in your plastics. First give it a good wash in hot soapy water, and then try one of these ideas.
1. Paper
All you need to do is place a piece of scrunched up paper or newspaper into the just-cleaned tub and pop the lid on. Leave it overnight (or until you next need to use it) and then discard the paper.
2. Vinegar
Fill the tub with white vinegar and set aside for five minutes. Then rinse, and wash again.
3. Salt
If the above two options don’t seem to be doing the job, try this. Sprinkle some salt in the bottom of the container and leave it in there with the lid on until you need to use it next. Discard the salt and the smell should be gone with it.
