"I've got a lot to live for": 95-year-old survives coronavirus
A 95-year-old man from Melbourne has become one of the oldest people to survive coronavirus.
Victor Cornell says he owes his life to the love of his family and has spent the last 24 days fighting for his life in Maroondah Hospital.
Victor and his partner Jean were diagnosed with the deadly virus, and the father-of-ten has said that his family have been "marvellous".
“They have stood by me,” he said.
Victor's son Russell said to 7News that he almost gave up and called him last week to say goodbye.
“We told him: ‘Dad, whatever you’re doing you’ve always got to hate Collingwood and barrack for Carlton,’ and he liked that.”
Victor started to recover and Eastern Health’s Dr Ortis Estacio said the 95-year-old has been an “inspiration to us all”.
