The Project pulls off surprise proposal for couple in audience
A surprise proposal (and engagement) on The Project has left the panel and audience in tears of joy.
On Thursday night, following Carrie Bickmore’s weekly wrap-up of “good news”, the host revealed that there was an “awesome couple” sitting in the show’s live studio audience.
“Sonny and Candice have been married and divorced, but they are still the best of friends,” Bickmore said. “They even started dating again and earlier this year they bought a house together, proving that true love never dies”.
And at the end of the video clip of the couple’s relationship, Candice had a very special message for Sonny.
"Hi, Sonny. I know you are in the audience, I love you and I would like to ask you to marry me and be my soul mate until the end of time?" she said.

Cut to Sonny, who was a little taken aback but the sudden attention. All he could manage was a “yes”.
As the emotional couple kissed, the panellists welled up at the beautiful scene.
“All the best, we hope you have a long and happy life together,” Bickmore said.
