Readers response: What is the best thing about retirement?
When it comes to retirement, there are a thousand ways to spend your day now that work isn't a priority.
It's the perfect time to travel, take up a new hobby or simply indulge in the endless time to relax in your golden years.
We asked our readers what the best thing is about retirement, and the response was overwhelming. Here's what they said.
Maree Commens - Six Saturdays and one Sunday.
Jill Waterhouse - Everything. Although I'm probably more busy now than when I was working because I can do more things that I like.
Chaz Maree - Being with my husband, he worked away for a lot of his career. The day he retired I cried when he pulled up in the driveway knowing he would never leave me again.
Stuart Ferguson - Not having someone else plan my travel itinerary for most of the year.
Jill Harker - Doing whatever I feel like every day!
Claudia Ukalovic - Spending some time with our grandchildren.
Faye Cheyne -The alarm gets set only when I choose!!
Marlene Hassett - More time at home with my dog.
Margie Buckingham - Absolutely love being retired. We can do whatever we like, whenever we like, however we want to! I’m so busy with so many individual pursuits/hobbies, my grandchildren, my elderly parents and executing our renovations that I just don’t know how I fitted everything in while working full time. I still have a cleaner bc I just don’t have time for that…. lol.
Vaughan Stephen Brummer - No more alarms and not knowing what day of the week it is.
Michael L Carrigg - Not having to tolerate corporate bs ever again.
Les Thornborough - Not having to get up and travel to work.
