Bec and Lleyton Hewitt sell Toorak mansion

Bec and Lleyton Hewitt’s Toorak mansion has sold less than a month after hitting the market.

Jellis Craig Stonnington listing agent Phillip French confirmed to the Herald Sun that a Toorak-based family bought the home, located at 34 Heyington Place, but he could not reveal the sale price. The house was listed for $15-16 million, and the Sun understands it sold for within that range.

Mr French said that the buyers had competed with parties from interstate and overseas, as well as local buyers from affluent suburbs like Hawthorn and Kew, to nab the house. He added that buyers were drawn by the living and entertaining spaces available in the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom residence, as well as the bedrooms, the pool, the 1800-bottle wine cellar, the 12-seat home theatre, the home gym, and the location.

“There are some very good buyers around at the moment, and there’s a little bit of a shortage of high-end properties [for sale]. [The property] was very well viewed online, but also there was quite good genuine interest in it,” Mr French said.

The sale comes less than a month after the couple purchased a $4.305 million home in the Gold Coast suburb of Burleigh Heads. While waiting to move into their new home, The Palms, the couple and their children were renting Burleigh Beach Bungalow. The owners said they were surprised that the Hewitts wanted to rent their property, telling the Gold Coast Bulletin, “They loved it as well, which was nice. You get worried as it’s your own house.”

The Hewitt’s new home, the Palms, is often described as “Queensland’s most photographed home”, and it last sold in May for $555,000 less than the famous couple paid for it.

The Hewitts bought the Toorak home in 2016 while it was under construction, paying $12.7 million for the property. They then worked with architect Christopher Doyle and builder Peter Johnston of Royale Construction to add some personal touches.

The home boasts ensuites for each of the five bedrooms and a six-car garage in addition to a home gym, pool, and home theatre. Other amenities include an in-built trampoline, basketball hoop, and astro turf with a Rebound Ace tennis surface.

Mr French described it as a “real entertainer’s home”.
