Idyllic island hideaway sells for less than you might think
A syndicate of four investors have bought picturesque Victor Island, sitting just 3km off the Queensland coast near Mackay.
Amazingly, the consortium parted with just $3,655,500 through Queensland Sotheby’s International agents Lynn Malone and Barbara Wolveridge for the entire island.
The island is Queensland's first 100% off-grid island, meaning it is completely self-sufficient. Fringed by coral reef, this little slice of paradise comes with a residence plus a caretaker’s cottage, rainwater storage tanks and a desalination plant.
There are two beaches on the Island and it is only accessible via boat or helicopter.
The Sydney syndicate members who purchased the island – Dan Ode, Sam Hamrosi and Konrad Konczak-Islam – plus Fiona Seitz from Victoria, will now try to secure more than its current bed and breakfast licence.
So the question remains: just what is this island paradise set to become? Watch this space.
