5 everyday accessories you need to take on your cruise
Grab these everyday items from around the house before you depart.
1. Hanging shoe organiser
No, you don't have to put your shoes in it. Multi-pocket organisers that hang from a hook, over a wardrobe rail or over the bathroom door are the perfect place to store all your bits and pieces. An organised cabin makes your whole cruise more enjoyable – trust us.
2. Nightlight
A small nightlight is handy for a number of reasons. The lighting system inside a cabin can be confusing, so it’s good to have something by your bed that you know how to operate. This is especially good if you’re getting up at night to use the bathroom and don’t want to wake your cabin mate. Interior cabins will be pitch black and a nightlight provides just enough illumination to get around.
3. Magnetic or suction hooks
Instead of throwing your things on the floor or onto the few flat surfaces, hang them up with a few easy to use hooks. Cabin walls are metal, so magnetic hooks work well, or you can use suction cup hooks on mirrors, window or sliding glass doors.
4. Laundry bag
You will go through a lot of clothes on a cruise, by the time you are changing for excursions, swimming, spa treatments, meals and more. You don't want to throw the dirty things back in with the clean (or just on the floor) so a laundry bag is the best way to stay organised. If you don't have one, a pillowcase works just as well.
5. Whiteboard or hanging notepad
Create your own personal bulletin board and you can organise your daily schedule or keep in touch with others in your group. You can hang the board or notepad inside your cabin or put it outside your door to let everyone else know what you’re up to. These are particularly useful when your phone is out of range at sea.
