Just how much does each day on a cruise cost
Part of the great appeal of cruising is the idea that it will work out cheaper than other types of holidays due to paying for meals and accommodation upfront.
But recent data from Cruise Lines International Association Australia (CLIA) seems to suggest that this might not necessarily be the case with some holidays.
Thought the purchase of multiple add-ons like beverage packages, room service, on-shore excursions or other activities, cruises can actually work out much more expensive.
CLIA broke down what a typical cruise passenger spent each day in 2014:
Figures include items you have to pay for up front, as well as extras that might not be part of your cruise package. But it works out the average cruise passenger was paying $384 a day, which depending on the type of holiday you’re used to might actually be more expensive.
