10 free things to do in Perth
We’ve already told you about some incredible free things to do in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. But for today’s article we’re going to head a little further west. In fact, about as far west as you can go if you’re planning on visiting a capital city in Australia.
That’s right, we’re looking at 10 of the best things to do in Perth that won’t cost you a cent, so your stay on the Swan River won’t break the bank.

1. Ride a bike around Fremantle
Cycle Freo offers a free bicycle rental service, allowing you to explore some of the region’s most incredible heritage buildings and market on two wheels.
2. Enjoy the free entertainment at Northbridge Piazza
Northbridge Piazza has something for everyone, with free yoga and Tai Chi classes in the morning, as well as free screenings of sporting events and classic movies.
3. Learn a thing or two at Perth Cultural Centre
Located in the very heart of the city, Perth Cultural Centre is home to a wide range of state-owned attractions and exhibits you can observe, absolutely free!
4. Spend the day at Cottesloe Beach
Easily accessed from the city centre, Cottesloe Beach is one of Perth’s pretties and the perfect place to swim, snorkel or simple sit back, relax and watch the sunset.
5. Lose yourself in nature at Kings Park
One of the largest city parks in the world, Kings Park offers incredible views of the city and Swan River, as well as a range of incredible lookouts and gardens.
6. Take the free tour at Little Creatures Brewery
Responsible for some of the best beer in Australia, Little Creatures Brewery opens the doors of the massive converted boat shed they brew in for free tours every day.
7. Get accustomed to your surrounds with the free bus service
Perth has a free bus service operating around the CBD called CATS (central area transport service) that are a great way to get your bearings while in the city.
8. View fascinating exhibits at the Art Gallery of Western Australia
Western Australia’s principal public art gallery has a range of collections and exhibitions visitors can sample for free, as well as an interesting free guided tour.
9. Spend the afternoon window shopping at the city’s arcades
Perth has a range of city arcades that make for some great window shopping including London Court Arcade, City Arcade, Carillion Arcade and Forrest Place.
10. Enjoy a morning at the State Library
With a range of interesting exhibits on the region and how it came to be, a visit to Perth is truly incomplete without popping into the State Library at some stage.
