Rare albino whale calf frolics with mother

A man has used a drone to capture remarkable footage of an albino southern right whale calf frolicking with its mother in the South Atlantic, just 700 metres from the coast.

Anton Schutte received a tip-off from local tourists and prepared his drone and flew it out to sea. The drone provides the perfect birds-eye view of the whales and really encapsulates how blissfully unaware they are of their special nature.

Mr Schutte was pleased with the footage and told Caters News: “Naturally, I was ecstatic to see them still there, only about 700m from the shore! Any time that someone gets to be in the presence of these magnificent creatures, it is a truly life-changing experience. It sticks with you forever and seeing them from the drone perspective is a whole new amazing experience.”

Animals with albinism are pretty rare and usually do not fare well in the wild as the lack of pigmentation makes them easy to spot by predators.
