The clever trick flight attendants use to get rid of bad smells
Few bathrooms cop as much traffic as those on airplanes, and if it’s your job to clean these airborne latrines it pays to have a trick or two up your sleeve.
In an interview with The Sun, cabin crew from Norwegian Airlines shared their secret for cleaning a mid-air bathroom when the scent becomes too much to bear.
If the smell in the bathroom after a passenger has… ahem… taken care of business is particularly pungent, the flight attendant tasked with the unfortunate job brews a strong pot of coffee and pours it down the toilet while they’re cleaning.
This neutralises the bacteria, and brings a familiar new smell.
