Passenger films moment heroic pilot abandons landing plane metres from runway

A hero pilot in the UK has used his skill to narrowly avoid disaster, abandoning his landing metres from the ground to avoid the effects of mega storm, Storm Eleanor.

And the remarkable thing is it was all captured on video!

The footage, which was uploaded by Twitter user Graham Kirk who was on the hair-raising flight, shows just how close the plane came to making a rough landing.

“LCY: where each flight today comes with a free rollercoaster ride,” Kirk wrote.

“Very sporting go-around on today’s BA8705 from EDI.

“Someone buy that captain a beer!”

The Sun reports the flight, which departed from Edinburgh, was prevented from landing safely by the gale force winds caused by Storm Eleanor.

At the end of the video, an air hostess announces:

“Ladies and gentlemen, the captain has discontinued our approach.

“Please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened and you’ll have more information shortly.”

The flight would eventually land safely, thanks to the captain’s skill.

What do you think of the footage? Have you ever had an aborted landing?
