Another NSW suburb banned from entering Queensland

Residents from another Sydney suburb have been barred from entering Queensland after new rules came into effect overnight.

From 1 am, anyone from Fairfield Council in the city’s west is not permitted to enter Queensland, with heavy penalties and jail time for those who breach the rules.

There are now 200,000 Sydneysiders who are unable to enter the sunshine state, with Fairfield joining Campbelltown and Liverpool councils, both of which are already banned from crossing the border.

A new border declaration form has also been created in an attempt to help ease heavy congestion at the NSW-Queensland border.

Authorities have issued a warning saying lengthy delays will occur in the coming days at Queensland’s borders and airports, as the changeover on the declaration process takes place.
