Aussies divided over "disrespectful" Scott Morrison booing

Australians have condemned the actions of those at Shane Warne's memorial who booed Scott Morrison when he arrived.

When he sat at the emotionally-charged service on Wednesday night in Melbourne, the PM was greeted with a frosty reception from mourners.

As host Eddie McGuire welcome the prime minister at the beginning of the memorial, the packed-out MCG erupted into boos.

Social media users have been divided on the moment, with many asking whether it was appropriate to boo the PM during a service, with some slamming it as "disrespectful".

"You had the privilege of being there but had no respect. Not the time or place. Shame on you!" one furious viewer commented.

Another Facebook user wrote, "How disrespectful, regardless if you like or hate the man, this was not the bloody time or place!"

A third person said, "No matter what, a memorial is not the time for this behaviour. Politics and people's opinion should not distract from a celebration of someone's life."

"Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Either way he will get criticised. I thought it was about Warnie, not who was there. RIP Warnie," another wrote.

The Prime Minister wore a black suit and tie for the sombre occasion, as he walked through the stadium to say goodbye to the iconic Australian for the final time.
