A 21-year-old male has been arrested following a “series of wrong decisions” that allegedly resulted in his car being impaled on the centre divide fence on a street in Sydney.
On Friday afternoon, Liverpool City Highway Patrol responded to reports of a car collision at Elizabeth Drive in Bonnyrigg
When officers arrived at the scene, they established the young man was driving an uninsured Toyota Prado unsupervised while on a learners licence.
Police also allege the young man returned a positive roadside breath test, returning a reading of 0.136 when tested again at the police station.
Learner drivers are required to maintain a zero blood alcohol content.
The male revealed his car was currently not insured during questioning and had his learner license immediately suspended. Police issued the man a Court Attendance Notice as well as a traffic infringement notice.
He faces multiple charges, including:
- One count of drive with midrange PCA
- Negligent driving
- Learner driver not displaying L plates.
- Driver of the motor vehicle not carrying licence
- Learner not accompanied by driver with full license
The police say it is “fortunate” the driver or other persons were not injured as a result of the incident.
