"Alive and well": Fans confused over Dr Harry Cooper death announcement

Dr Harry Cooper and Channel Seven have been forced to clarify that the famous TV vet is alive and kicking after his Wikipedia page stated he had died. According to Cooper's Wiki page, the TV personality died at the age of 80 on November 16th 2024. However, Ben Fordham and his 2GB team have confirmed that this is not the case. "[Dr. Harry] has had a bit of a shock this week, courtesy of something that appeared online," explained Fordham on his popular radio show. "This week we were contacted by a listener, they alerted us to the fact that according to Google and Wikipedia, Dr. Harry Cooper was no longer with us!" Fordham explained that he had done his own investigations of the claims and observed the Wikipedia page in question, which read that "Dr. Harry Cooper OAM, more commonly known as Dr. Harry, an Australian vet and TV personality best known for his media appearances, born February 20, 1943, died November 16, 2024." The unofficial death notice prompted several listeners to reach out to the team at 2GB, asking if they'd heard any news about Dr. Harry's alleged death. "A fan of Dr. Harry Cooper got in touch w us a couple of days ago and said, 'Did you know that Dr. Harry had died?," shared Fordham. "And we all looked at each other and said, 'No?' "And then we got another message, 'Can you confirm that Dr. Harry has passed away?' Again, we were looking online, and he was in New Idea at the start of the year celebrating his 80th birthday." "And the most recent story about Dr. Harry was from September, when he visited a camel farm." In order to confirm once and for all, Fordham reached out to the Seven Network, who provided a statement revealing the good news that, "Harry is alive and well." "After tipping off Seven, the reference to his death has been removed from Wikipedia," Fordham added. "So, its another reminder – you can't believe everything you read." Dolly Parton struck by family tragedy

Dolly Parton's older brother David Wilburn Parton has passed away at the age of 82. The news was shared by their sister, Stella Parton, on social media. "My brother David Passed away peacefully this morning. It's never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but he got his angel wings and is now at peace," she initially wrote on X, formerly Twitter. She shared another post on Facebook on Friday November 15 (Saturday November 16 in Australia), "It's never easy to lose a loved one. My wonderful brother David Parton passed in the early hours of the morning." The following day, she thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers in a follow-up post, "Thank you for all your kind thoughts to my family as we continue to grieve the loss of our much loved and cherished oldest brother David." While a specific cause of death has not been revealed, David's obituary, posted online by Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine, Tennessee, confirmed that he passed away at his home. "The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David McNabney, Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, his Cornerstone caregiver, Aubrie Smith & caregiver, Robin Schmidt," the obituary read. Dolly has yet to comment on the death. David is the oldest son among Dolly's 11 siblings, which include six brothers and five sisters. Among them, those remaining include Willadeene, 84, Coy, 81, Robert Jr., 76, Stella, Cassie, 73, Frieda, 67, Rachel, 65. Unlike his famous siblings, David stayed out of the spotlight and had a thriving career as a bridge builder superintendent, working on many of the bridges in Tennessee. Dr Chris Brown's new show revealed

Beloved TV personality Dr Chris Brown is returning to Aussie screens with a brand new show. Following his departure from Network Ten last year, the TV vet has joined Seven and now his latest project with the broadcaster has been revealed. Brown is set to join some other well-known Aussies including Mick Molloy, Amanda Keller, Kate Ritchie and Matt Preston, who will be his untrained and unqualified veterinary assistants on the show Once In A Lifetime. In the upcoming show the beloved vet will embark on global wildlife journeys with the other entertainers, as they help iconic animals while navigating unpredictable situations. From saving endangered species to facing wild dangers, the stars will be at the forefront to experience the best of what nature has to offer. Brown is already a big hit for Seven, after the success of his show Dream Home last year. He left Network Ten in February 2023, after a 15-year career at the network. His departure was a blow for Ten, as the popular TV presenter hosted multiple programs over the years. It is understood that he is on a two-year contract with Seven, which is believed to be worth more than $1 million a year. Kochie announced the safe arrival of baby girl Heidi, who is the first child of his daughter Georgie and her husband Alex. "Stop the blame game": Kochie slams young Aussie homebuyers

David Koch has called on young Aussies to stop blaming baby boomers for their financial woes in his latest newsletter for finance website Compare The Market. The former Sunrise host and current economic director for the finance company said that young Aussies need to “stop the blame game” in regards to the housing crisis, arguing that baby boomers should be called the "scapegoats" instead. He explained that young homebuyers believe that his generation has “put them on the chopping block” despite the “Bank of Mum and Dad” sitting sixth largest home lenders. “Not enough houses? Boomers are hoarding them. Not enough home units? Boomers throw down cash before first-time buyers can say boo!” he wrote. He said that while he understood that young Aussies are struggling to buy a home, as the median price of one in Australia is currently 14 times the average annual income, in 1990 it was five times the average annual income. “When we bought our homes, prices were more accessible, and while interest rates were sky-high, our wages were aligned with housing costs.” “Housing markets have inflated, wages have stagnated, and opportunities for younger generations are considerably diminished.” He added that government policy is largely to blame for the dire housing situation, and that the rise in property costs was not because they wanted to hang younger Aussies out to dry, but because the economy favoured real estate as a safe, long-term investment. “Governments have simply not planned for either the generational housing change or the big increase in migration to ensure enough properties have been built to meet demand,” he wrote. He then referenced the State of the Housing System report which found that Australia will fall 40,000 units short of its 2029 new home construction target of 1.2m million. Kochie defended the boomers, saying that not many of them could be considered as the "wealthy, elite stereotype we often see in the news”, as many of them had to work hard to become a homeowner. “It's essential to recognise this diversity and avoid vilifying the entire generation,” he wrote. Kochie called on young Australians to "stop the blame game" and instead of "pointing fingers" they should focus on “how we can work together” to make housing affordable again. “A bit of compassion and creative thinking could go a long way. Devastated wife reveals croc attack victim's heroic final act

The grieving wife of the 40-year-old doctor who was killed by a crocodile in Far North Queensland has spoken out about her husband's heroic actions in the moments before his tragic death. David Hogbin, a general practitioner from Newcastle, was holidaying near Cooktown with his wife Jane and their three young sons when he was attacked by a crocodile. Dr Chris Brown and Amanda Keller will be reunited on screen for the first time in two years. Keller confirmed on her WSFM breakfast show that she will reunite with Brown for his new series Once in a Lifetime, and will be travelling across the globe to film the show. “It’s a show called Once in a Lifetime, and Chris Brown is hosting this," she told listeners on Tuesday morning. “And this is a show I know that he’s wanted to do for years … I do know which country I’m going to, but I’m not allowed to say. It’s in Africa. “It’s Chris’s show. He and I are hanging out, and I’m going to be having experiences. “My nature is to over-research things and there’s nothing I can do. I can’t do that. So it’s a TV show where I can go into it floating, I can get on a plane and not have to be anxious about having to prepare something. “It’s a real gift for me, so I’m excited. The daughters of the Australian man who was killed in The Philippines alongside his partner have broken their silence after their family's "cruel" deaths. On Wednesday last week, the bodies of David James Fisk, 57, his wife Lucita Barquin Cortez, 55, and Ms Cortez’s daughter-in-law Mary Jane Cortez, 30, were found dead inside their Lake Hotel room in Tagaytay, south of Manila. Huge breakthrough after Aussie couple murdered on overseas holiday

Just days after Australian couple David Fisk and Lucita Cortez were <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/health/caring/australian-couple-killed-in-the-philippines-identified" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killed</a> in a luxury hotel in the Philippines, the suspected killer has reportedly turned himself in to police. The bodies of 54-year-old David Fisk and his de-facto partner Lucita Barquin Cortez, 55, were found with their hands and feet tied by hotel staff at the Lake Hotel in Tagaytay city, south of Manila, on Wednesday. The body of another woman, Cortez's 30-year-old daughter-in-law Mary who lives in the Philippines, was also found in the room. A week on from their deaths, Tagaytay Police Chief Charles Daven Capagcuan told the Associated Press that police had a breakthrough in the case when a suspect was identified by three hotel staff from CCTV footage. The identification of the suspect eventually led to his home where he decided to surrender, Capagcuan said. On Wednesday, Sunrise reporter Ben Downie shared the new developments. “Philippines police say this morning a man handed himself in over the hotel homicide where the killer carried out an execution-style attack binding his victims, slashing and suffocating them,” Downie said. “Hotel security footage showed the suspect leaving the room, but didn’t capture him entering, leading to the theory the killer had gained access from a window." “This certainly counts as a breakthrough with the surrendered suspect and closure for loved ones.” After hearing the news of the couple's sudden and tragic passing, Fisk's family, based in NSW's Sutherland Shire, issued a statement saying they "pray for answers and the truth in this horrific matter". Dr Charlie Teo's surprising next move after Aussie surgery restrictions

One year after being slapped with restrictions that effectively stopped him from operating in Australia, Dr Charlie Teo is restarting his career overseas. The neurosurgeon was investigated by Australia’s Health Care Complaints Commission, who last year placed restrictions on the surgeon after they discovered he had been operating on tumours that had been deemed "inoperable". Now, one of China’s most respected neurosurgeons has thanked Australia for imposing such restrictions because it has allowed her country to benefit from the controversial surgeon’s ability to remove high-risk brain tumours. Dr Teo has been operating regularly in China including on high profile VIPs, and at least eight other countries around the world, according to reports from the Sunday Telegraph. An investigation has found Dr Teo has operated on 150 patients, with many of them being from Australia, in China, Spain, Germany, India, Switzerland, Brazil, Peru, South Africa, and Nepal since the restrictions effectively stopped him from operating in Australia. In an interview from Beijing, Professor Ling Feng, Deputy Director of the China International Neuroscience Institute, said she is “not worried” about the restrictions imposed on Dr Teo a year ago for unsatisfactory conduct. “I took a careful look into what happened over there. I don’t think it should be imputed to Charlie’s neglect of care and passion for the patients,” Professor Ling told the Sunday Telegraph. “It is just a different view of the indications for surgery. Similar cases occur across the world. Instead, I ‘thank’ Australia for the restrictions on Charlie, which gave me the opportunity to work with him.” In the past year, patients have travelled from Australia, Romania, Britain, Saudi Arabia, France, Indonesia, and Singapore to have Dr Teo operate. Of those surgeries Dr Teo’s logbook documents one death, one “poor” outcome, three “fair outcomes”, 20 “good outcomes” and 145 cases have been documented as “excellent”. Dr Teo says his results are better than ever and he feels terrible for patients in his own country that he can’t help, but hopes that he may one day be able to return to Australian operating rooms to help patients. “All it would take is one sensible and brave person in one hospital somewhere in Australia to change the status quo,” Dr Teo said. “Just one person to sit back and go ‘okay he might be an a**hole, he might be into money, he might be a bit of a cowboy, he might be all the things the media have said he might be, but the fact is that patients, Australian patients, some need him and he does operations that other people don’t do and most of those outcomes are good so what about we just drop the politics and allow him to operate in Australia?" “That’s all it would take … some common sense for the greater good, not for his sake but for the sake of patients.” Image credits: Instagram

The new season of Dancing With The Stars premiered on Sunday night with Chris Brown presenting alongside longtime host Sonia Kruger for the very first time. The former Bondi Vet star left Channel 10 to join Seven a year ago, and while things reportedly ended amicably between them, he couldn't help but take a dig at his former employer on Dancing With The Stars. At the beginning of the episode, Sonia explained that all contestants were safe and “no one’s going home tonight”. Chris feigned relief that he was also "safe" and couldn't be fired on the first night of his new gig, to which Sonia quipped that only the dancers could be voted off and that she and Chris were "as safe as anyone can be in entertainment”. “Shout out to Channel 10,” he quickly remarked, eliciting laughter from the audience. The comment could be in reference to Channel 10 axing a handful of shows over the past few months, leaving several high-profile TV personalities out of work. Yahoo Lifestyle reported that the reboot of Gladiators had been cancelled after one season, and the network confirmed in May that both The Bachelor and The Masked Singer won't be returning this year. In another part of DWTS, Chris also joked abut how his previous role on Channel 10’s The Living Room made him “rivals” with Better Homes and Gardens presenter Adam Dovile. “Now Adam, we do need to address the elephant in the room,” he said. “We were TV rivals for many, many years in the cutthroat vicious world of Friday night lifestyle television. “It’s hard to even look you in the eye, the fury is so deep. David and Victoria Beckham have slipped back into the infamous purple wedding outfits to mark their 25th anniversary. The pair have shared a bunch of photos on social media from the lead up to their wedding in July 1999, giving fans a more detailed insight into the big day. "Looking back on the days leading up to our wedding 25 years ago brings back so many amazing memories… I love you so much," Victoria captioned one of the posts, before tagging David. The photos included a picture of the pair testing their iconic thrones for size when they were first delivered, Victoria's final fitting for her wedding dress and David fully concentrating while writing his vows among a few other special moments. In another post, the couple released a series of shots of them sitting on the reupholstered thrones, wearing their iconic Antonio Berardi wedding reception outfits. "Yep, still got it! 🤣 Can’t believe it’s been 25 years and they still fit!" Victoria captioned the photo before tagging all of their kids on social media. It wasn't an easy process getting into clothes from 25 years ago, and the pair even documented the former Manchester United player struggling to get into the suit, as their 12-year-old daughter Harper was heard giggling in the background. In the Instagram story David can be heard saying "I'm in!" before hearing a pop as he put on the waistcoat making everyone burst into laughter. Dr Michael Mosley's wife shares heart-breaking tribute to her late husband

Dr Michael Mosley's widow has shared a heart-breaking tribute to her late husband just weeks after his untimely death. Mosley first went missing while holidaying with his wife, Dr Clare Bailey, on the island of Symi on June 4th, and was tragically found dead five days later. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Dr Bailey thanked the public for the “wonderfully supportive messages” and revealed that her family misses the father of four “so much.” “The outpouring of love from so many people has meant a huge amount to me and my family,” she wrote alongside a photo of her late husband. “I’m going to be quiet for a while. I’m sure you will understand. But I will be back here soon." Sharing her plans for the future, she added, “I very much want to continue with the work that gave Michael and myself so much joy and such a sense of purpose.” “Once more thank you so much for respecting my family’s privacy so kindly. Michael was an amazing man. Thank you for seeing that too. We miss him so much.” Dr Mosley was a popular TV talking head in the UK and in Australia, who regularly appeared on chat shows and presented documentaries about diet and exercise. David Campbell and Jimmy Barnes open up on "complicated" relationship

Jimmy Barnes and David Campbell have opened up on their unconventional father-son bond in the latest episode of The Apple & The Tree podcast. The podcast hosted by Richard and Christian Wilkins aims to get under the hood of famous Aussie families, discussing the good, the bad and everything else. In the podcast, Jimmy revealed that he was just a teen when David was left in the care of his maternal grandmother, and he didn't know that his dad was the most famous rock star in the country until he was 10 years old. When asked how David felt when he realised who his dad was, he replied: "He was 30 ... and a 10-year-old just lands in his lap ... it's a really complicated situation." "I had lot of anxiety ... a lot of 'I don't belong here' but also 'I want to belong here'." Jimmy agreed, and said, "He tried to escape from it." The singer recalled what a tricky time it was for his son. "David got a bit sick when he started to realise who I was, it was overwhelming, he got migraines and stuff. "I was like, 'I'm sorry I'm your father ... have you seen Star Wars?'" he joked. Despite the rough start, Jimmy's wife Jane had hope that the new family dynamic was a positive change, and she was right. "We can both safely say that there was one factor that made this work quickly, it was Jane," Jimmy shared. "Even now, David is probably closer to Jane than he is to me," he continued. David also grew a close bond with his half-sister Mahalia Barnes, who was really young when they first met. They now have the strongest bond, both on and off stage. Speaking about his relationship with Mahalia, David said: "The joy of singing with Mahalia on stage, it reminds me of the time I just got there, and she was my first sister ... I trust her with secrets in my life, implicitly." Over time the family dynamic has developed into something that Jimmy said he cherishes dearly. "I can't regret anything I've done, because everything I've done has brought me to this space, with this family," he said. "I don't take any of this for granted, but I used to medicate, I now just meditate." Now that David is a parent himself he added that there are some perks for his kids for having a world-famous rocker as their 'Pa'. One of Dr Michael Mosley's heartbreaking last interviews has resurfaced, as he discussed his wishes to grow old just weeks before his untimely death. The body of the 67-year-old health expert and TV personality was found in Greece four days after he was reported missing, with his wife sharing the news of his death on Sunday. Mosley had vanished after embarking on a walk while on holiday on the island of Symi, and after taking a wrong turn, succumbed to the challenging hike in extreme temperatures, with his <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/health/caring/michael-mosley-s-cause-of-death-revealed-in-autopsy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">autopsy</a> declaring he died of natural causes. Now, a conversation that the father-of-four had with The Telegraph on April 30th has resurfaced, in which Mosley talked about how eager he was to live a long and healthy life after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes aged 55, having lost his father Bill from complications related to diabetes at 74. “I had seen what happened to my father,” Mosley told the UK publication. “He hadn’t seen his grandkids grow up. I thought, that’s not a road I want to go down.” Elsewhere in the interview, Dr Mosley, who has three adult sons and an adult daughter, was optimistic about his future, saying he had no intentions of slowing down. “I’m 67 and a lot of my mates are now retired,” he said. “Neither I nor Clare have any intention of giving up work. Why would you give up? Now in my mid-to-late 60s, I am quite happy to go on writing and giving public speeches and making telly and podcasts.” Dr Mosley was a respected and beloved figure in the medical and television community. "No trace": Desperate search continues for Dr Michael Mosley

The search for Dr Michael Mosley has ramped up after he disappeared while on holiday in the Greek islands. The British health expert, known for popularising intermittent fasting for weight loss, was on holiday with his family on the island of Symi when he seemingly vanished without a trace on Wednesday. Mosley, 67, set off on a hike along St Nicholas Beach on the island in the early afternoon but failed to return and was reported missing by his wife Dr Clare Bailey. The search for the doctor has now expanded, as Channel 7 reporter Mylee Hogan explained on Sunrise on Friday. “This morning the search has now expanded — they have called in crews from other islands to help,” Hogan said. “Those crews have come in on helicopter, they have drones, and dogs as well, to try to locate him." Authorities believe he may have been affected by the heat during his walk, as Hogan said, “They are working on the theory he may have been impacted by the heat and fallen.” “The area they’re searching where he was walking is only a 3km distance, but it is quite rugged, so they are trying to focus on that area (the walking track).” According to a report in the <a href="https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/06/tv-dr-michael-mosley-goes-missing-symi-greece-search-launched-20984105/?ico=top-stories_home_top" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link-type="article-inline">UK’s Metro</a> news outlet, a resident claimed it was “impossible” to get lost on the island. Symi Mayor Eleftherios Papakalodoukas reinforced the sentiment, telling BBC News, “It is a very small, controlled area, full of people. So if something happened to him there, we would have found him by now.” Senior police spokesperson Constantina Dimoglidou previously told the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13499989/Mail-columnist-Michael-Mosley-missing-Greece-Symi.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link-type="article-inline">Daily Mail</a> that ongoing searches had so far been unsuccessful. “We have now asked the fire brigade to assist in the operation in case he may have slipped, tripped, fallen, or even bitten by a snake, remaining injured somewhere,” he said. “There is just no trace of him. “He tried to kill me": Shock claims against former TV presenter

Former Channel Seven presenter Liam David Cox has appeared via audiovisual link in Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Monday, following claims that he forcefully strangled a woman during a domestic dispute. The woman told police that Cox had wrestled her to the ground, straddled her, and proceeded to forcefully strangle her until she lost consciousness. “He tried to kill me,” she told police. The court heard that police found the woman bleeding from her nose and coughing up blood, when they attended the scene. They also found blood splattered on the bedsheets and pillows, and on tissues in the toilet. She was treated by paramedics before being hospitalised for her injuries. The alleged incident occurred at a house in Vaucluse, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, on the night of May 4, and Cox was arrested at a hotel in Bondi Beach the following day. Cox has spent nearly a month behind bars, and was applying for bail during the court hearing on Monday. The court heard that the altercation occurred after he had attended a charity fundraiser with the woman where he had a few drinks before they became embroiled in a heated argument. Magistrate Greg Grogin said the facts stated that the woman had been “the instigator” and “quite aggressive”, adding that he wasn't "victim blaming" but adding context to the “extremely serious allegations” where Cox allegedly lashed out after an “ongoing” argument. Cox's lawyer Ben Barrack told the court the couple had clashed three times that night, and the woman had punched and kicked him in the lead up to the alleged assault. The former TV presenter also claimed that he was acting in self-defence, but admitted that he had not used reasonable force. His lawyer added that the woman’s allegations were “highly problematic” and emphasised she had not yet provided a statement to police about the alleged assault. Police prosecutor Nellia Ng argued that Cox should not be granted bail because there was a risk that he would further endangered the alleged victim commit further offences, or fail to appear in court. However, the Magistrate determined that the risks could be mitigated if Cox resided in Queensland and was barred from contacting his alleged victim. He granted bail with strict conditions including having to surrender his passport, report to police, and abstain from contacting the woman. “Domestic violence should not occur anywhere at any time with anybody for any reason,” Magistrate Grogin said. “Any temptation to contact (the woman) will be a short-course way to come back before the court via AVL wearing green.
