"I know what you've done": Doctor who first treated Erin Patterson speaks out

<p>The doctor who first treated triple-murderer Erin Patterson after she arrived at hospital suffering symptoms from her own poisonous mushroom meal says he knew she was guilty from the beginning.</p> <p>Dr Chris Webster was the first medical professional to speak with Patterson when she presented to Leongatha Hospital around 8am on July 31, 2023 – the day after the fatal beef Wellington lunch that killed three members of her extended family and left a fourth critically ill.</p> <p>Patterson stayed just five minutes before self-discharging against medical advice, prompting Dr Webster to call emergency services. That triple zero call – along with dozens of other exhibits – has now been publicly released.</p> <p>“This is Dr Chris Webster calling from Leongatha Hospital. I have a concern regarding a patient that presented here earlier but has left the building and is potentially exposed to a fatal toxin from mushroom poisoning,” Webster told the operator. “I've tried several times to get hold of her on her mobile phone.”</p> <p>Dr Webster explained that Patterson left the hospital before a nurse could begin observations. “I had a brief chat with her about where the mushrooms were obtained and after that, while I was attending to the other patients, the nurse informed me she had discharged herself against medical advice,” he told the operator.</p> <p>Speaking out for the first time, Dr Webster said something about Patterson's arrival set off alarm bells. “My heart skipped a beat,” he said. “I bypassed all of the usual triage protocols and just brought her straight in and sat her down and just looked her straight in the eye directly and said ‘the people at Dandenong suspect death cap mushroom poisoning, where did you get the mushrooms?’</p> <p>“That’s when she said ‘Woolworths’. She was fairly impassive, wasn’t loud or hysterical, wasn’t crying. She just answered the question in a pretty matter-of-fact way.</p> <p>“After that I was like: 'OK, I don’t want to talk to you anymore, I know what you’ve done'.”</p> <p>At the time, Ian and Heather Wilkinson were also in hospital, gravely ill. But Patterson, he said, showed no sign of concern.</p> <p>“She wasn’t shaking, Erin was sat in a chair, I don’t even remember her looking at Ian and Heather,” he said. “She’s evil. She wanted people out of her life and rather than using normal channels she snuffed out their lives and attempted to snuff out another.”</p> <p>Dr Webster’s call to emergency services was the first step in a chain of events that would ultimately lead to Patterson’s arrest, trial, and conviction for three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.</p> <p>“When she didn’t respond in a way that would instantly explain it was a tragic accident, from that moment in my mind she was guilty. She was evil, and she was very smart to carry it all out but she didn’t cross the Ts and dot the Is,” he said.</p> <p>Recalling the moment he saw Patterson again, this time in the courtroom, Webster said the atmosphere was unmistakable.</p> <p>“When I looked at her, when I found the opportunity to sneak a peek, it was visceral, I felt the intensity, the hostility, the negativity, it was an intense gaze,” he said.</p> <p>“She’s evil and she had a problem, she had a dilemma, and the solution that she chose is sociopathic.</p> <p>“If you don’t like your in-laws there are other things you can do besides snuffing out a family.”</p> <p><em>Images: Victoria Supreme Court / Nine News</em></p>

"Welcome to the world!": John Farnham's double celebration

<p>Music legend John Farnham has another reason to smile – he’s officially a grandfather!</p> <p>On the same day he celebrated his 76th birthday, Farnham's family shared the heartwarming news that his son James and partner Dr Tessa Effendi have welcomed a baby boy into the world.</p> <p>“James Farnham and his partner Dr Tessa Effendi are thrilled to announce the arrival of their first baby,” a family statement read. “Arriving ahead of the expected date of birth, the baby boy named Jett John Farnham was born at 5:26pm on Wednesday, June 18, at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Melbourne, weighing 3.176kg.”</p> <p>Little Jett was named in honour of his famous grandfather – a tribute that clearly touched the Farnham family deeply.</p> <p>The proud new parents shared their joy, saying, “We thought we were excited to meet him – but turns out he was even more excited to meet us, arriving a little ahead of schedule. Jett is our whole world in one tiny, noisy, perfect package. We're smitten, we're sleep-deprived, and we wouldn't have it any other way.”</p> <p>John and wife Jill were equally emotional, calling the birth a “perfectly beautiful” gift. “He’s already filled our hearts with so much love and we’re so proud and happy for James and Tessa. Welcome to the world, Jett!”</p> <p>James had first revealed the pregnancy in a creative social media post six months ago, sharing a video of a cake with the words “Coming 2025” on top. <p>A Sydney suburb is making headlines for a traffic feature so confusing, it’s giving GPS systems an existential crisis and forcing drivers into interpretive dance routines with their steering wheels.</p> <p>Residents of Austral have been left bewildered by a diamond-shaped roundabout that’s turning an ordinary intersection into a high-stakes game of vehicular Twister. It’s not clear who approved this geometric oddity, but what is clear is that nobody can drive around it without looking like they’re auditioning for <em>Fast & Furious: Suburban Drift</em>.</p> <p>Liverpool City Councillor Peter Ristevski, who seems to have drawn the short straw as the face of this fiasco, confirmed to <em>Today</em> that he's requested an official investigation into the design decision.</p> <p>"My inbox last night was bombarded with over 300 responses asking, 'what is going on? You guys can't even build a roundabout,'" <a href="https://9now.nine.com.au/today/diamond-roundabout-liverpool-council-design-flaw-labelled-embarrassing/960c2e76-d1b4-4425-a184-0000fde9c7ed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Peter told <em>Today</em></a>, possibly while rubbing his temples and Googling “how to disappear”.</p> <p>Local drivers have reportedly been attempting three-point turns, four-point turns, and even something resembling modern dance to navigate the angular nightmare, before giving up and just driving over it – a choice that, while technically illegal, is increasingly viewed as emotionally valid.</p> <p><a href="https://9now.nine.com.au/today/diamond-roundabout-liverpool-council-design-flaw-labelled-embarrassing/960c2e76-d1b4-4425-a184-0000fde9c7ed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Aerial footage revealed</a> there was, in fact, enough room for a traditional roundabout, leading many to question how this avant-garde concrete rhombus got approved in the first place. Was it modern art? A prank? A failed Illuminati summoning circle?</p> <p>Peter Ristevski didn’t have the answers. “It’s quite embarrassing,” he admitted. “I’m in Canberra for the Australian Local Government Conference, where I’ve had every single councillor here in Australia rip into me about this roundabout.”</p> <p>Yes, while the rest of the country’s councillors are exchanging ideas about sustainability and infrastructure, Peter is fending off jokes like “Hey mate, did Picasso design that thing for you?”</p> <p>Peter also revealed he didn’t know how much the roundabout cost to install, which is fair – the true cost may be measured in dented bumpers, strained marriages and a sharp uptick in meditation app downloads.</p> <p>“It’s a pretty good reflection of where things are at with council, but ratepayers are paying for it all and they’re going to have to pay for this to be rectified because it’s an absolute joke looking at it,” <em>Today</em> host Karl Stefanovic pointed out with the grim amusement of a man watching a train crash in slow motion.</p> <p>Local authorities have yet to announce how or when the diamond disaster will be fixed, but residents are hoping for something a little more traditional – perhaps even... round. Channel 9 looking to hold onto Karl with huge new deal

Karl's Origin bet sees NRL star run nude across Bondi Beach

<p>Nothing kicks off the weekend quite like your morning coffee, a cheeky croissant, and a surprise unblurred penis on national television. That’s exactly what <em>Today</em> show fans copped around 6am this morning when Channel 9’s breakfast crew decided, apparently, that broadcast standards were merely a suggestion.</p> <p>Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo were front and centre for the chaos, as sports reporter Danika Mason crossed live from Bondi Beach. Mason was joined by retired NRL star Aaron Woods – who, thanks to a State of Origin bet gone sideways, had only his dignity to keep him warm (spoiler: it didn’t).</p> <p>Woods had promised to streak if NSW lost Game 2. Queensland, being Queensland, delivered the goods in Perth on Wednesday night, so Woods kept his word, stripped down, and bolted starkers into the surf. The <em>Today </em>team howled with laughter as he made his break for the briny deep – so far, so PG.</p> <p>But then Woods did what no one expected. Meanwhile, Woods grinned like a man who knew exactly what he'd done.</p> <p>Danika Mason, ever the professional, summed up the moment with the sort of innuendo that will no doubt earn her a spot at next year’s Logies: “The smallest sporting event I’ve seen.”</p> <p>The man of the hour eventually reappeared on screen – mercifully clothed – declaring, “I’m feeling good, it was good fun. It was a long run, it was like ‘when is this water going to get closer?’” A sentiment shared by viewers who were wondering when their corneas might recover.</p> <p>It turns out Woods' bare-all sprint wasn’t just eyebrow-raising, but technically illegal. NSW Premier Chris Minns had warned him beforehand, but Woods seemed blissfully unaware that public nudity is frowned upon – even at Bondi. “But at the beach!” he protested, in what’s sure to become the rallying cry of accidental exhibitionists everywhere.</p> <p>Minns, showing off his dry wit, suggested Woods try his luck at one of Sydney’s many legal nude beaches next time. “It’s been illegal forever,” he deadpanned on radio. Woods could now be staring down a fine, though fans are hoping common sense (and perhaps a sense of humour) prevails.</p> <p>Meanwhile, Woods’ mate Beau Ryan said the footy star was “genuinely shocked” by the revelation. “You can’t be nude in public,” Ryan told him. World's oldest practicing doctor shares his secrets to a long life

<p>While most people slow down with age, Dr Howard Tucker has spent more than a century proving that passion and purpose are the best medicine.</p> <p>At 102 years old, the American neurologist has lived a life so extraordinary it earned him a Guinness World Record as the oldest practicing doctor – an honour he received just before turning 99. Though he officially hung up his white coat at 100, Tucker remains as active and engaged as ever.</p> <p>Today, he lectures future physicians at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and consults on medico-legal cases – work made possible by a law degree he earned at 67. His message? Retirement is not a requirement.</p> <p>“Retirement, I think, is the enemy of longevity,” Dr Tucker recently told Al Roker on NBC’s <em>Today</em>. “You have to have some purpose in life and get up in the morning and know what you’re about.”</p> <p>Even after the hospital where he worked shut its doors in 2022, ending his medical practice at 100, Tucker hasn’t ruled out returning to clinical work. “If it wasn’t for the closure, I’d absolutely still be seeing patients,” he told <em>People</em>. “Nobody wants me at my age – but I’ll keep trying.”</p> <p>His enthusiasm for life has captured the public imagination, especially through <em>What’s Next</em>, a documentary about his life produced by his grandson. The film has gone viral on TikTok, turning the centenarian into an unexpected social media sensation.</p> <p>Dr Tucker credits his longevity not just to good genes – his parents lived to 84 and 96 – but to lifestyle choices. “Heredity and family history of longevity is a healthy start,” he wrote in his Guinness World Record submission. “However, it must be supported by moderation of nutrition, alcohol and happiness.”</p> <p>His daily routine reflects that philosophy. He snowshoes in the winter, walks on the treadmill for at least four kilometres a day, and eats a mostly clean diet – fruit and cereal in the morning, fish and vegetables at night. Lunch is often skipped to maintain mental clarity. Dessert, however, is a staple – typically fruit or ice-cream, enjoyed with his wife of over 70 years.</p> <p>And while he rarely drinks, he allows himself the occasional martini. One thing he’s always avoided: cigarettes.</p> <p>Dr Tucker also says its important to keep the brain stimulated. “If they retire from their work, they should at least do something as a hobby,” he told <em>Today</em>. “You need a stimulus for the brain daily.”</p> <p>Science backs him up. Research shows that ongoing learning, social connection, and a sense of purpose contribute to mental acuity and longevity. Tucker’s life is a blueprint for all three. He remains close to his four children and 10 grandchildren and is an avid sports fan.</p> <p>Despite a fall in his late 80s that ended his skiing days with a broken neck, Tucker hasn’t let injury slow him down. Instead, he’s adapted, always finding new ways to stay active.</p> <p>With his 103rd birthday on the horizon in July, Dr Tucker says he isn’t concerned about the end. “I never think of death,” he said. “To be alive is to know that you’re going to die because life is a fatal disease. Karl fires up on Sussan Ley over “ruthlessly personal” purge

Dr Charlie Teo's plea to have Aussie ban lifted

<p>Famed neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo has formally asked the Medical Council of New South Wales to lift the restrictions that have effectively barred him from performing complex brain surgeries in Australia for the past two years.</p> <p>In a letter submitted by his legal team, Dr Teo requested the removal of conditions requiring him to obtain written support from a Council-approved neurosurgeon before operating on patients with recurring malignant brain tumours or brain stem gliomas – some of the most challenging and high-risk cases in neurosurgery.</p> <p>These conditions were imposed following a Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) inquiry that found Dr Teo had recommended surgeries in two cases where the risks were deemed to outweigh the potential benefits. The inquiry also criticised the consent process for being “too optimistic”.</p> <p>Since the restrictions came into effect, Dr Teo has continued operating abroad, performing more than 230 surgeries in countries including China, Spain, Germany, India, Switzerland, Peru and South Africa. According to a submission provided to the Medical Board, of these 236 cases, 202 were classified as having "excellent" outcomes, 28 as "good", four as "fair", with two mortalities and none listed as "poor."</p> <p>“I’ve done exactly what was asked of me in Australia, albeit abroad and not by choice but by necessity,” Dr Teo <a href="https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/can-only-hope-neurosurgeon-charlie-teo-requests-end-to-aussie-operating-ban/news-story/85b9d25f40db864bac9d1a03a859a1d0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told news.com.au</a>. “The supervising neurosurgeons have been extremely impressed with my results, and I guess I have even surprised myself.”</p> <p>Dr Teo said he was proud of maintaining his high standards under intense scrutiny. “Now that I have been able to focus on the real enemy – brain cancer – and not be stressed by potential vilification and persecution is a Godsend.”</p> <p>One of the many Australian patients who travelled overseas to receive treatment from Dr Teo is Tanya Miles, a mother of six who was diagnosed with recurrent glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer. After undergoing surgery abroad, she said she is now optimistic about having more time with her children.</p> <p>“I’m angry that I couldn’t make the same choice in my own country,” Ms Miles said. “But I’m so relieved I listened to my gut. Now I have the best possible chance of spending years, not weeks, with my children.”</p> <p>Dr Teo said his push to have the restrictions lifted is not just about regaining the right to operate in Australia but about a broader principle of patient choice and access. “I may not necessarily get a job back here, which would be a real shame for Australian brain cancer and brain tumour patients,” he said. “But I am hopeful that one day some of my fellow neurosurgeons will put patient care above politics. "Dumb and Dumber": Karl levels brutal accusation

<p>Convicted conman Peter Foster has reportedly launched a $4 million lawsuit against <em>Today</em> show host Karl Stefanovic and the Nine Network, accusing them of orchestrating a sensationalised arrest for television cameras.</p> <p>Foster, a career fraudster with a long history of legal troubles, claims his dramatic takedown on a Port Douglas beach in August 2020 was staged in collaboration with police to create captivating footage for Nine’s <em>60 Minutes</em> program. The arrest, which was captured by a Nine news crew and drone footage, followed a <em>60 Minutes</em> investigation alleging Foster had tried to hire a hitman to eliminate international scam investigator Ken Gamble.</p> <p>In the exclusive report titled "King Hit", Stefanovic confronted Foster at a Gold Coast café with secret recordings that appeared to capture Foster negotiating a $100,000 deal to make Gamble "completely disappear". Foster denied the accusations during the televised encounter.</p> <p>Weeks later, Nine cameras rolled as undercover police officers tackled Foster on the beach, handcuffed him and extradited him to New South Wales. However, charges related to alleged fraud were dropped six months later due to insufficient evidence of offences committed within NSW.</p> <p>The network followed up with a second explosive segment, "Despicable Him", chronicling Foster’s arrest and legal battles.</p> <p>Foster, who successfully sued NSW Police for $140,000 over false arrest and wrongful imprisonment, has now escalated his fight to the NSW Supreme Court, targeting Stefanovic and Nine. They were a willing participant. They didn't do the due diligence," he said. "The bottom line is, you know, I wrongly copped seven-and-a-half months of imprisonment."</p> <p>Estimating his damages at over $4 million, Foster and his legal team are now actively trying to serve legal papers to Stefanovic, who has been absent from the <em>Today</em> show for the past two weeks. The network maintains Stefanovic is on scheduled leave and is expected to return on Monday.</p> <p>Foster, however, speculates otherwise, cheekily suggesting on social media that Stefanovic's absence is tied to his legal pursuit.</p> <p>"I'm currently trying to serve legal papers on Karl Stefanovic," Foster posted on Facebook alongside a satirical "Where's Wally?"-inspired image renamed "Where's Karl?".</p> <p>“Karl – if you're reading this, you can run but you can't hide. “They are treating us like chumps": Karl fires up over supermarket practices

Albanese clashes with Karl Stefanovic over alleged terror plot

<p>Anthony Albanese has clashed with Karl Stefanovic over when he was briefed about an alleged anti-Semitic terror plot in Sydney. </p> <p>The Prime Minister reportedly had not been informed about the discovery of an explosive-laden caravan until just before it was made public on January 29, ten days after the initial discovery. </p> <p>In an interview with the<em> Today</em> show on Thursday morning, Stefanovic suggested that Albanese "must have been absolutely livid” that he was not notified earlier. </p> <p>The Prime Minister responded: “Now you’re making an incredible assumption there, Karl." </p> <p>“What’s important here is that we don’t play politics with national security.</p> <p>“And when it comes to a range of the issues related to the anti-Semitic attacks, what I haven’t done is go out there and reveal intelligence.”</p> <p>Stefanovic pushed on asking Albanese if he would support an  inquiry into whether there “was an embarrassing communications failure”, to which the Prime Minister shot back with: “So stop the investigations?” </p> <p>“Stop doing the work to track down the perpetrators of these crimes and engage in politics?”</p> <p>He continued: “Do you think that that is a sensible use of resources?”</p> <p>Stefanovic said it deserved "some focus", adding: “If the prime minister of this country is not told about something of this magnitude ... I’d be scratching my head going ... ‘why not?’” </p> <p>But Albanese shut him down by saying what was “important is tracking down the perpetrators of these crimes”.</p> <p>“I find it frankly absurd that people think, for example, that resources should be diverted, that the AFP (Australian Federal Police) and intelligence agencies should be engaged in a political process rather than doing their job,” he said.</p> <p>“And you know what my job is, Karl? It’s really simple. It’s to back our authorities to do their job. All right. Karl Stefanovic lifts the lid on former Today co-hosts

<p>Karl Stefanovic has shared what he really thinks about the women he has shared <em>The Today Show</em> hosting duties with, such as Jess Rowe, Tracy Grimshaw and Lisa Wilkinson. </p> <p>In a candid tell-all interview with <em>Stellar</em> magazine's <em>Something To Talk About podcast</em>, Stefanovic discussed the highs and lows of hosting Today since he joined alongside Tracy Grimshaw in February 2005. </p> <p>“I wasn’t overly nervous, I just knew that I didn’t know enough,” Stefanovic admitted, adding that it took “some time” for him to feel he was no longer out of his depth.</p> <p>After just one year on the show, Grimshaw announced she would be leaving <em>Today</em> to host <em>A Current Affair</em>, as Karl recalled the cheeky way she informed him of her imminent departure. </p> <p>“I remember I was late for work because I’d left my shoes at home – I ended up getting Ray Martin’s shoes,” he told the podcast host. </p> <p>“So I came into the studio like, ‘Hey, Trace, look at this. I’ve got Ray Martin’s shoes.’"</p> <p>“Tracy leans across and goes, ‘You got his shoes? I got his job.’ That’s how she broke it to me. She denies that story, but it’s 100 per cent accurate.”</p> <p>Grimshaw was then replaced by Jess Rowe, whose hosting role with <em>Today</em> was short-lived, as Karl  admitted Rowe had been “pilloried”.</p> <p>The mum-of-two was sacked from <em>Today</em> after returning from maternity leave, and her departure made headlines at the time when it was alleged then-Nine boss Eddie McGuire had spoken about wanting to “bone” (fire) Rowe during a meeting with Nine executives.</p> <p>“It was shocking, the treatment that she had. She was called the most heinous things, and I was just trying to survive,” he explained on <em>Stellar’s</em> podcast.</p> <p>“I’ve apologised to Jess since then, but at the time I just didn’t know how to navigate my own future, let alone be there for her in the way that I should have.”</p> <p>Rowe was then replaced by Lisa Wilkinson in 2007, who stayed with the show for ten years. </p> <p>While there was much public speculation about Lisa and Karl's relationship after her dramatic exit from <em>Today</em>, Stefanovic told <em>Stellar</em> that he doesn’t “waste any time” of his life “thinking about any negative parts” of their long professional stint together.</p> <p>“But this I will say about Lisa: genuinely adored working with her. I found her to be an incredibly interesting, intelligent, funny woman,” he insisted.</p> <p>“She taught me so much about the craft of conversation, and we had a really beautiful relationship. So there is no ill will. Only great things came from that.”</p> <p>The longtime breakfast TV host currently sits alongside Sarah Abo at the desk, for which he describes himself as “so fortunate”.</p> <p>“In this game, there’s stuff you have control of and there’s stuff you don’t. At any point on any given day, I can be replaced. The show is bigger than I am,” Stefanovic pointed out.</p> <p>“I don’t see Sarah ever being replaced. "An enormous privilege": Karl Stefanovic celebrates 20 years on Today

Karl Stefanovic's missing daughter sparks major police search

<p>Karl Stefanovic's four-year-old daughter has been found after she went missing for one stressful hour from his Sunshine Beach home. </p> <p>On Wednesday afternoon, Stefanovic was spotted chatting with police officers outside his Noosa residence, after young Harper was nowhere to be seen. </p> <p>She was missing for over an hour with all family members frantically looking in the surrounding beach and bushland, with local Surf Life Savers also assisting in the search.</p> <p>According to the <em>Daily Mail</em>, Stefanovic even got on his Vespa scooter and darted around town searching for Harper and asking locals if they had seen her. </p> <p>“Harper went missing for a short time and we feared the absolute worst because no one could find her,” Stefanovic told The <em><a href="https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/sydney-confidential/police-helicopter-called-in-after-karl-stefanovics-daughter-vanishes/news-story/c57007a819e9fadc15bb8e121b46ea41" target="_self" data-tgev="event119" data-tgev-container="bodylink" data-tgev-order="c57007a819e9fadc15bb8e121b46ea41" data-tgev-label="entertainment" data-tgev-metric="ev">Daily Telegraph</a></em>.</p> <p>“I called the police because she couldn’t be found inside or around the house and our priority is her safety.”</p> <p>However Harper was found inside Stefanovic’s house, “curled up asleep underneath a chair where no one could possibly have hidden,” he said.</p> <p>Stefanovic thanked Noosa Heads police and the local community for their swift efforts in locating Harper.</p> <p>“We are so grateful for the support we received from Noosa Heads police department and the community around us. They all handled our distress and the outcome incredibly professionally.”</p> <p>While the situation “resolved itself quickly”, Stefanovic told the publication it had been his “worst nightmare”.</p> <p>As for the four year-old, whose only worry was if she would be in trouble with Santa just seven sleeps from Christmas Day, Stefanovic said, “(We’ve) have promised Harper Santa won’t find out. <p>Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine have celebrated their six year wedding anniversary on Sunday. </p> <p>The <em>Today </em>show host marked their special day with a heartwarming tribute to his wife, sharing a series of loved-up photos of the couple to Instagram. </p> <p>"Six years. Your strength. Your courage in the face of it all," he wrote in the caption. </p> <p>"How you accidentally mispronounce our order at the local Chinese every time. Lucky Karl I’m in awe of you. Every part of you. Pauline Hanson levels lawsuit at Lidia Thorpe and Today show

<p>Pauline Hanson, leader of the One Nation party, has initiated defamation proceedings against Senator Lidia Thorpe and Channel Nine’s <em>Today</em> show after being described as “a convicted racist” during a live television interview.</p> <p>Legal letters sent to both parties demand immediate apologies and retractions, claiming the statement is false and defamatory.</p> <p>Hanson’s legal team, represented by barrister Sue Chrysanthou and solicitor Anthony Jeffries, has labelled the situation “highly irresponsible” and warned of further legal action if the demands are not met.</p> <p>In the letter to Senator Thorpe, Hanson’s lawyers argue, “You alleged during that interview that Senator Hanson has been convicted of racism. That never occurred.” They insist no criminal conviction of that nature exists and called on Thorpe to issue a public correction.</p> <p>The dispute arises in the wake of a Federal Court ruling earlier this month, where Hanson was found to have racially vilified Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi. The ruling stemmed from a 2022 social media post in which Hanson told Senator Faruqi to “pack your bags and p*ss off back to Pakistan”. Justice Angus Stewart described the tweet as an “angry personal attack” that conveyed “a strong form of racism”.</p> <p>Hanson has appealed the court's decision, arguing that the statement did not target Faruqi’s race, religion or ethnicity and should not be classified as racist. Her legal team claims the tweet was directed solely at Senator Faruqi and was not reflective of broader discrimination. They further argue that the original judgment misinterpreted the context of the remarks.</p> <p>In the same <em>Today</em> show interview, Senator Thorpe also described Australia as “a very racist, divided country”. Thorpe has not yet publicly addressed Hanson’s legal warning.</p> <p>Hanson, whose supporters have donated nearly $700,000 to fund her legal efforts, appears ready for a protracted legal battle. "Alive and well": Fans confused over Dr Harry Cooper death announcement

<p>Dr Harry Cooper and Channel Seven have been forced to clarify that the famous TV vet is alive and kicking after his Wikipedia page stated he had died. </p> <p>According to Cooper's Wiki page, the TV personality died at the age of 80 on November 16th 2024.</p> <p>However, Ben Fordham and his 2GB team have confirmed that this is not the case. </p> <p>"[Dr. Harry] has had a bit of a shock this week, courtesy of something that appeared online," explained Fordham on his popular radio show.</p> <p>"This week we were contacted by a listener, they alerted us to the fact that according to Google and Wikipedia, Dr. Harry Cooper was no longer with us!"</p> <p>Fordham explained that he had done his own investigations of the claims and observed the Wikipedia page in question, which read that "Dr. Harry Cooper OAM, more commonly known as Dr. Harry, an Australian vet and TV personality best known for his media appearances, born February 20, 1943, died November 16, 2024."</p> <p>The unofficial death notice prompted several listeners to reach out to the team at 2GB, asking if they'd heard any news about Dr. Harry's alleged death.</p> <p>"A fan of Dr. Harry Cooper got in touch w us a couple of days ago and said, 'Did you know that Dr. Harry had died?," shared Fordham.</p> <p>"And we all looked at each other and said, 'No?'</p> <p>"And then we got another message, 'Can you confirm that Dr. Harry has passed away?' Again, we were looking online, and he was in New Idea at the start of the year celebrating his 80th birthday."</p> <p>"And the most recent story about Dr. Harry was from September, when he visited a camel farm."</p> <p>In order to confirm once and for all, Fordham reached out to the Seven Network, who provided a statement revealing the good news that, "Harry is alive and well."</p> <p>"After tipping off Seven, the reference to his death has been removed from Wikipedia," Fordham added.
