The couple first met while touring in 2016 and became engaged in September 2023, with Copley proposing in none other than Malta.</p> <p>Goodrem’s bridal gown, a masterpiece by Australian fashion house Paolo Sebastian, was inspired by the frescoes of the cathedral itself. The dreamy off-shoulder French tulle gown featured a two-and-a-half metre train, a cathedral-length veil, and embroidered personal details including the wedding date.</p> <p>“Couldn’t have imagined anything more,” she wrote, describing the custom creation as “the dress of my dreams” – and promising to share more of its journey soon.</p> <p>Of course, one look wasn't nearly enough for the celebration. Radio host at the centre of fatal royal prank sues network

<p>More than a decade after a prank call to a London hospital triggered international outrage and tragedy, Australian radio presenter Michael Christian is suing Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), claiming the broadcaster failed to protect and support him in the aftermath.</p> <p>Christian was co-hosting 2Day FM’s breakfast show alongside Mel Greig in December 2012 when the pair placed an on-air prank call to King Edward VII Hospital, where the then-Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was being treated for severe morning sickness.</p> <p>Christian, who had only been on the job for two days, claims in a newly filed federal court lawsuit that he and Greig were instructed by the show's production team to impersonate King Charles and Queen Elizabeth II to extract medical information.</p> <p>The call was answered by nurse Jacintha Saldanha, who transferred the hoax call through to the Duchess’ attending nurse. Days later, Saldanha was found dead, having taken her own life. In a note left behind, she blamed the radio stunt and the hospital’s handling of the situation for her death.</p> <p>The incident sparked a global media storm, intense public criticism and death threats directed at the hosts. Christian’s lawsuit alleges that SCA did little to shield them from the backlash.</p> <p>According to the court documents, Christian was assured by the company that if any broadcast content crossed a line, SCA would “step in”.</p> <p>His legal team claims that promise was broken: “The radio presenters were left by SCA as the convenient fall guys and scapegoats for SCA management decisions and non-compliance”.</p> <p>Christian also alleges the prank violated the Australian Communication and Media Authority code of practice. The documents state that the reason for the long delay in taking legal action was SCA’s promise to restore Christian’s reputation and help rebuild his career – a promise he claims was never fulfilled.</p> <p>His lawyers argue that the broadcaster failed to provide “meaningful health support”, initiate a public relations campaign to repair his public image, or offer career advancement or financial recognition for his continued loyalty.</p> <p>The situation escalated earlier this year when Christian was made redundant by the company in February. He contends the redundancy was not genuine, stating, “SCA still requires (his) former role to be performed”.</p> <p>Now, Christian is seeking financial compensation, damages, and penalties for what he describes as SCA’s negligence and breach of duty.</p> <p>Southern Cross Austereo has not yet filed a defence but issued a brief public statement: “As the matter is currently before the courts, and out of respect for the legal process and the privacy of those involved, it would be inappropriate for us to comment at this time.”</p> <p>A court date is yet to be set.</p> <p><em>Image: Supplied</em></p>

"Devastated": Football star dies at 28, just days after wedding

<p>Liverpool and Portugal football star Diogo Jota has died in a tragic car crash in Spain, just days after celebrating his wedding to long-time partner Rute Cardoso.</p> <p>The 28-year-old forward was killed alongside his younger brother, 26-year-old Andre Silva, in the early hours of Thursday morning near Zamora in north-western Spain. Authorities confirmed the pair died at the scene after their Lamborghini suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking, veered off the road, and burst into flames.</p> <p>The heartbreaking accident comes less than two weeks after Jota married Rute in Portugal on June 22. The couple, who shared three children, had posted a joyful photo from their wedding day with the caption: “Yes to forever.”</p> <p>Now, that forever has been cruelly cut short.</p> <p>Jota had only recently capped off one of the most successful periods of his career. In May, he helped Liverpool clinch the English Premier League title, contributing six goals across the season. He also featured for Portugal in their dramatic UEFA Nations League final win over Spain last month, coming off the bench in extra time before his team triumphed in a penalty shootout.</p> <p>In a statement, Liverpool FC expressed their devastation:</p> <p>“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota,” it read. “We will be making no further comment at this time and request privacy for the family, friends, teammates, and club staff as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.”</p> <p>Portuguese football is also in mourning. A minute’s silence was held ahead of Portugal’s Women’s Euros match against Spain on Thursday, following a request from the federation.</p> <p>Jota’s career began at Paços de Ferreira in Portugal, before moving to Atletico Madrid in 2016. He was loaned to Porto and then moved to England, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017. His performances at Wolves were electric, helping the club earn promotion and firmly establish themselves in the Premier League.</p> <p>Wolves, where Jota is still adored by fans, released a heartfelt statement: “We are heartbroken. Diogo was adored by our fans, loved by his teammates and cherished by everyone who worked with him. The memories he created will never be forgotten.”</p> <p>He joined Liverpool in 2018, quickly becoming a vital part of Jurgen Klopp’s side. "Truly blessed" Irwins celebrate 33 years of love, legacy and wildlife

<p>Australia’s beloved wildlife family is celebrating a milestone today, with Terri Irwin marking 33 years since she married the late Steve Irwin – the larger-than-life Crocodile Hunter who captured hearts across the globe.</p> <p>On June 4, 1992, Steve and Terri tied the knot in Terri’s grandmother’s church in Oregon. Oldest member of royal family dies just before 101st birthday

<p>Countess Marianne Bernadotte, the beloved and longest-living member of the Swedish and Danish royal family, has died at the age of 100. Her passing marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in European royal and cultural life.</p> <p>According to her daughter, who spoke to Swedish news agency TT, the countess passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her closest relatives at a nursing home in Gärdet, Stockholm. "It was calm and peaceful," she said. "She was over 100 years old, with only two months to her 101st birthday."</p> <p>Born Marianne Lindberg, she carved out a name for herself long before becoming royalty. As a talented actress with the Royal Dramatic Theatre, she was known for her compelling performances and collaborations with renowned artists of her time.</p> <p>She first married Gabriel Tchang, son of a Chinese ambassador, in 1947. The couple had three children – Robert Gabriel, Richard Antoine and Marie Gabrielle. Tragically, both sons passed away before her: Richard at just two years old and Robert in 2012.</p> <p>In 1961, she wed Count Sigvard Bernadotte, the second son of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, becoming the aunt by marriage to the current King Carl XVI Gustaf. She was also the great-aunt of King Frederik X of Denmark through her ties to Queen Margrethe II. She was widowed in 2002.</p> <p>Countess Bernadotte was deeply committed to philanthropic work. After losing her son Richard to complications that led to blindness, she and her husband founded the Sigvard and Marianne Bernadotte Research Foundation for Paediatric Eye Care. Her advocacy extended to dyslexia awareness, inspired by her brother and other royal family members who faced the condition.</p> <p>She had a deep appreciation for the arts and fashion. Recognised as one of the ten best-dressed women in the world, her enduring relationship with the Balmain fashion house and other haute couture designers became a hallmark of her public image. In 2017, a special exhibition honouring her fashion legacy was opened by her grandniece, Crown Princess Victoria.</p> <p>Her passing is mourned not only by her family but by a nation that admired her elegance, strength and unwavering dedication to causes close to her heart. “Mum always found the joy”: Beatrice and Eugenie open up on royal divorce

<p>Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have spoken candidly about the impact of their parents’ divorce and the enduring strength of their mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.</p> <p>Appearing on the "Lessons from our Mothers" podcast, hosted by Isabella Branson and Cressida Bonas – actress and former girlfriend of Prince Harry – the royal sisters shared heartfelt reflections on their upbringing and the lessons imparted by their mother during challenging times.</p> <p>Beatrice recalled the difficult period during their parents' separation, which began in 1992 when she was just eight years old and Eugenie was six. Catch of the day: bride hauls in shark at her wedding!

<p>Most brides on their big day are content with a nice bouquet, a slice of cake and a husband who hasn’t locked his knees and fainted at the altar. But Miccala Toms of Darwin had slightly more ambitious ideas – and they involved beer, fishing and a decent-sized aquatic predator.</p> <p>After saying “I do” to her now-husband Brodie, the couple did what any sensible Territorians would do in the sweltering heat: they swung by the Dundee Tavern for a couple of cold ones and some casual wedding photos. You know – veil, vows and VB.</p> <p>But while some brides might be focused on getting the perfect shot with golden sunlight and maybe a well-behaved Labradoodle, Miccala spotted a local teen fishing off the rocks and thought, “Now <em>that’s </em>a vibe.”</p> <p>“It was a hot day,” Miccala explained on the <em>Today </em>show. “So we thought we’d have a few drinks and take some photos at the front.” The vibe was clearly: bridal glam meets bush telly.</p> <p>The helpful teen handed over his fishing rod – probably assuming she’d hook a little barra or, at worst, a mildly confused crab. But Darwin had other plans.</p> <p>Cue dramatic <em>Jaws</em> music.</p> <p>What Miccala thought would be a cute “bride-with-fish” moment turned into a full-on marine wrestling match when something large, scaly and very toothy yanked on the line.</p> <p>“It was a shark and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, it’s a shark!’” she recalled, possibly while her wedding photographer simultaneously reconsidered their life choices.</p> <p>In true Northern Territory fashion, this bride did not flinch. In fact, she dug in her heels (or possibly bare feet, unclear), while Brodie jumped in to help haul in the unexpected guest star of their wedding album.</p> <p>And because true love is built on mutual support, Brodie did what any man witnessing his wife dragging a shark in her wedding dress would do: picked the beast up by the tail so they could pose together, glowing with wedded bliss and mild concern for their fingers.</p> <p>The shark, possibly the only one more confused than the couple, was photographed before being safely released back into the water, no doubt with a wild story to tell its shark mates. </p> <p>As for Brodie? He knows he’s punched above his weight. “To be honest, I wouldn’t be here without her, that’s for damn sure,” he said. “She’s given me three lovely children and made me the happiest I’ve ever been, so can’t let it go now.”</p> <p>And why would he? When you marry a woman who’ll fish in full bridal gear and take a spill while catching a shark with a beer buzz and a grin... well, you know you’ve found The One.</p> <p>Moral of the story? Grief as European royal passes away at just 46

<p>Archduchess Estelle de Saint-Romain of Austria has passed away at the age of 46. A statement published in Le Figaro's Carnet du Jour confirmed that Estelle Lapra de Saint-Romain, wife of Archduke Carl Christian of Austria, died on March 4, 2025. Her family laid her to rest at the Monastère de Cimiez in Nice, France, a week later.</p> <p>"Her husband, Archduke Carl Christian, their children, her parents, and her in-laws are deeply saddened to announce that Archduchess Estelle of Austria, née Lapra de Saint Romain, was called to God on Tuesday, March 4, 2025," the statement read in translation. The cause of death was not disclosed, though reports indicate she had previously been diagnosed with cancer.</p> <p>Born in 1979, Estelle married Carl Christian in 2007. He is the great-grandson of Emperor Charles I of Austria, the last ruler of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Together, they had five children: Zita, 17, Anezka, 15, Anna, 12, Paola, 10, and Pier-Georgia, 4.</p> <p>The funeral service, attended by several European royals, took place at the historic Monastère de Cimiez. Among those in attendance were Belgium's Princess Astrid, Luxembourg's Princess Marie-Astrid, the Duke of Castro, and Ferdinand of Habsburg. <p>In a celebration absolutely fit for footy royalty, the families of two AFL greats officially became one, as Ruby Brownless and Josh Wallis tied the knot in a breathtaking ceremony in Noosa over the weekend.</p> <p>Ruby, the daughter of Geelong legend Billy Brownless, and Josh, the son of Western Bulldogs icon Stephen Wallis, exchanged vows in a magnificent event that defied AFL traditions. Despite the league's unwritten rule of keeping key dates like Round 1 and grand final day clear, the happy couple chose to mark their special day as the Cats took the field for their season opener.</p> <p>The wedding was a glittering affair attended by a host of AFL stars, past and present, with family and friends flying in to witness the heartwarming union. Among the high-profile guests was Ruby’s mother, Nicky Brownless, who is engaged to Melbourne great and expert commentator Garry Lyon. With Josh’s brother, Mitch, having played 162 games for the Bulldogs and Ruby’s brother, Oscar, once listed with Geelong, the occasion was a true meeting of AFL dynasties.</p> <p>Proud father Billy Brownless, known for his jovial personality, shared his delight in walking his daughter down the aisle. Calling into his Triple M show the following day, he said, “(It was) beautiful. I’ve had a couple of limoncellos so I’m a bit dusty. AFL star's wife spends wedding anniversary in hospital amid cancer battle

<p>AFL star Jeremy Finlayson's wife Kellie Finlayson has revealed she's had a bit of a setback with her health and is spending her second wedding anniversary in hospital. </p> <p>The 29-year-old is battling terminal stage four bowel cancer that metastasised in her lungs. </p> <p>She took to Instagram to share the update from her hospital bed, with a picture of the happy couple showing off their rings on their wedding day, and an updated photo of herself in the ward, with the caption: "Happy anniversary darl. Two years ago V. Today!"</p> <p>"Happy anniversary to me," she added, using a crying with laughter emoji and a bandaged love heart emoji.</p> <p>The AFL star shared his own anniversary message with an Instagram story, writing: "Happy anniversary <3" </p> <p>Kellie did not explain why she was hospitalised. </p> <p>The couple tied the knot back in March 2023 in South Australia.</p> <p>Kellie, who is a mother-of-one, was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 25. </p> <p>She previously opened up about her diagnosis on the Nova podcast <em>Head Game</em>, and shared just how hard her chemotherapy treatment was. </p> <p>"I lost a s--t ton of weight. I mean, I had a stoma, so I had a foreign object on my stomach. I wasn't the normal mum that she should have had, but I was as good as I possibly could be. It was hard," she said at the time. </p> <p>"I was allergic to one of the strands of that chemotherapy, which is why, when I did relapse, I had to change chemotherapy, which meant I lost my hair.</p> <p>"I was on my deathbed. Anthony Albanese shares wedding details

<p>Anthony Albanese and his fiancé Jodie Haydon have revealed details of their upcoming wedding for the first time. </p> <p>Chatting candidly with Australian Women's Weekly, the couple admitted they are planning to tie the knot in a "small, intimate ceremony" in spring after the federal election.</p> <p>"Our wedding will be a moment when we make that commitment," Haydon told the magazine.</p> <p>"We're doing it in front of family and loved ones, and I see that as … for us. It's something we're looking forward to — an important and symbolic way to reaffirm our commitment with each other."</p> <p>Albanese and Haydon are planning on waiting until after the election, which is expected to be held in April or May, to get married in order to not have their big day wrapped up in politics. </p> <p>The ceremony will not be held in a Catholic church due to Albanese's prior divorce but could be outdoors, Haydon added, with their dog Toto playing a role.</p> <p>"It will be small, intimate," Haydon said. "Probably a spring wedding."</p> <p>"Possibly outdoors, in the second half of this year, with our family and loved ones … And you can be sure Toto will make an appearance."</p> <p>Albanese revealed the moment he decided Haydon was the woman he wanted to marry, and how he decided to <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/relationships/anthony-albanese-announces-engagement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">propose</a> on Valentine's Day last year. </p> <p>While gesturing towards the Lodge, the Prime Minister told the reporter, "This will end one day, and the thing about our relationship is that we enjoy spending time together.
