"He lit up the lives of everyone he encountered," they added. "We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time that we had with him for the rest of our lives."

Jett had battled multiple health challenges throughout his life. In a 2012 interview on The Doctors, Preston revealed that her son had been autistic and had a history of seizures. She also shared that he had suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome as a young child, and that the couple believed environmental factors may have contributed to his health issues.

The family found hope again in 2010, when they welcomed their youngest child, Benjamin, 18 months after Jett's passing. Travolta and Preston also shared their daughter, Ella, now 25.

Preston herself faced her own private battle with illness, passing away in July 2020 at the age of 57 after a quiet fight with breast cancer.

In 2021, Travolta opened up about a heartbreaking conversation he had with Benjamin, who had expressed fear of losing his father after his mother’s passing. "Ben said to me once, 'Because mum passed away, I'm afraid you're going to,'" Travolta recalled during an appearance on Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart.

Travolta gently explained life’s uncertainties to his young son. "Nobody knows when they're gonna go or when they're going to stay," he told Ben. "You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can."

Images: Instagram

Sad end to search for missing Queensland mother

The family of Tayla Spies, a 29-year-old mother-of-three who vanished over two months ago, has confirmed the devastating news that human remains found near her abandoned vehicle belong to her.

Her sister, Rebecca Spies, shared the heartbreaking update in an emotional post on Facebook on Sunday.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the devastating loss of our beautiful Tayla,” she wrote. “Although she may no longer be here with us, she will always be in our hearts and I will carry her with me wherever I go.”

Rebecca expressed deep gratitude to the many people who supported the family throughout the agonising search for Tayla.

“We truly will be forever grateful to our family and friends for surrounding us, supporting us, picking us up when we fell down and for never letting us walk one step of this alone," she said. "Tayla was and always will be so incredibly loved, more than she would ever know. Please bear with us as we grieve and navigate through this excruciating loss as a family.”

Tayla’s disappearance on February 2 sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community of Roma. She had been on a weekend trip with her partner in Dalby, several hours from home, when she was last seen. After leaving the Windsor Hotel, she set off alone in her white 2017 Toyota HiLux, while her partner travelled separately.

She was later seen refuelling at a service station in Condamine. However, in a puzzling turn of events, Tayla did not follow her usual route home to Roma. Instead, she unexpectedly turned onto the Carnarvon Highway towards the New South Wales border after reaching Surat – a decision that left her family baffled.

“Nobody knows why she turned left in Surat to head south instead of north to Roma,” Rebecca had previously told the Brisbane Times. “A number of people had heard from Tayla over the weekend that she disappeared, and she had told everybody on Sunday, February 2, that she was coming home to Roma.”

In the painful weeks that followed, there had been no activity on Tayla’s bank accounts or phone, and she heartbreakingly missed her 29th birthday. Police mounted an intensive search, scouring a sprawling 9,000 square kilometres across Western Downs, from Yuleba and Wullumbilla South to Teelba, Glenmorgan and Meandarra.

Hope turned to heartbreak on April 3, when Tayla’s HiLux was discovered. Human remains were located nearby shortly after.

In a tearful TikTok video, Rebecca revealed that she received the devastating call on Friday. “The police and my family do believe those remains are Tayla’s,” she said. “I was told, at 12.25, that they found remains and it’s most likely my sister.”

As of now, police are yet to formally confirm the identity of the remains.

Loved ones remember Tayla as a devoted mother and cherished sister whose life was tragically cut short. The family has asked for privacy as they grieve and begin the painful journey of healing.

Images: Queensland Police

Major breakthrough over mother of three missing for two months

Authorities have located a ute believed to belong to Tayla Spies, a Queensland mother of three who vanished more than two months ago.

Spies, 29, was last seen on CCTV footage at a service station in Condamine on Sunday, February 2. She had spent the weekend with her partner in Dalby but failed to return home to Roma. Since her disappearance, she has not contacted any family or friends, heightening concerns for her safety.

Police confirmed on Frida morning that they discovered Spies’ white Toyota Hilux in Noorindoo, approximately 40km north-east of Surat. Officers were alerted to the vehicle’s presence on a property along Yuleba-Sarat Road at about 3pm. A search of the vehicle revealed some of Spies’ belongings inside, though authorities have not disclosed specific details about the items found.

Before its recovery, the ute was last seen on CCTV traveling down Surat’s main street at 11:10am on the day she went missing. This sighting remains a crucial piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation. Authorities have since resumed extensive searches in the area in hopes of finding further clues about her whereabouts.

Spies is described as Caucasian, approximately 170cm tall, with a slim build, brown shoulder-length hair, and blue eyes. She has the word "KARMA" tattooed across her chest. Her family and friends continue to plead for any information that might help locate her.

Police and local search teams have been scouring the surrounding area, using drones, tracking dogs, and ground search crews to cover as much terrain as possible. Despite these efforts, there have been no confirmed sightings of Spies since she was last seen on CCTV in Condamine.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding her disappearance to come forward. Whether it be a small detail or a major lead, investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen Spies or her vehicle. Those with information are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers or their nearest police station immediately.

Images: Queensland Police

66-year-old woman reveals why she just gave birth to her 10th child

In a remarkable turn of events, 66-year-old Alexandra Hildebrandt gave birth to her 10th child, a healthy baby boy named Philipp, on March 19 at Charité Hospital in Berlin. The birth, carried out via cesarean section, saw Philipp weighing in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

Hildebrandt, a well-known human rights activist and the director of Berlin’s Checkpoint Charlie Museum, insists that she conceived naturally, without the aid of fertility drugs, and faced no difficulties during the process.

Baby Philipp joins an already large and diverse family, including siblings Svitlana (46), Artiom (36), Elisabeth (12), Maximilian (12), Alexandra (10), Leopold (8), Anna (7), Maria (4), and Katharina (2). Remarkably, eight of these children were born after Hildebrandt turned 53, all during her second marriage to former CDU politician Daniel Dormann.

For Hildebrandt, having a big family is both fulfilling and fundamental. “A big family is not only something wonderful, but above all, it is important for raising children properly,” she told The Today Show. Despite her age, she has received only positive feedback from friends and family regarding her pregnancy and childbirth.

Dr Wolfgang Henrich, Hildebrandt’s OB/GYN, described her pregnancy as “largely uncomplicated”. However, medical experts caution that pregnancies at such an advanced age come with significant risks. Dr Brian Levine, a fertility specialist based in New York City, notes that the biological likelihood of a woman conceiving naturally at 66 is extremely low. Additionally, the risks of hypertension, gestational diabetes, preterm labor and chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome rise significantly with age.

Hildebrandt is not alone in making headlines for late-life motherhood. In 2023, 70-year-old Safina Namukwaya from Uganda gave birth to twins via in vitro fertilisation using donor eggs and her husband’s sperm. Despite concerns about her age, Namukwaya expressed joy at her newfound motherhood, saying that age should not be a barrier to having children.

As for Hildebrandt, she credits her lifestyle for her ability to conceive and carry a child at her age. “I eat very healthily, swim regularly for an hour, walk for two hours,” she shared in an interview with Bild. She also noted that she has never smoked, consumed alcohol or used contraceptives.

Images: The Today Show

Major inquiry launched into Northern Beaches Hospital following child's death

A parliamentary inquiry into the Northern Beaches Hospital’s services will be launched following the tragic death of two-year-old Joe Massa.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park announced on Friday that he has asked parliament’s Public Accounts Committee to investigate the safety and quality of care provided by the hospital.

The inquiry will examine services dating back to the hospital’s opening in October 2018 on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Joe Massa suffered a cardiac arrest at the hospital and died in September last year. His parents, Elouise and Danny Massa, claim Joe was incorrectly triaged and left waiting for hours, leading to brain damage.

The grieving parents have urged the state government to review the hospital’s systems and protocols and take immediate action to upgrade its facilities.

“We want change at that hospital so no other parent, no one of our family or friends, has to go through what we’ve gone through,” they said.

The couple met with Minister Park, Premier Chris Minns, and NSW Health Secretary Susan Pearce in February, when the parliamentary inquiry was discussed. On Friday, Park confirmed the inquiry would investigate accessibility issues that contributed to Joe’s death.

“We made a commitment to Elouise and Danny to undertake the necessary reviews to understand how they and their son have been let down, as well as to learn what changes need to be made to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again,” Park stated.

The inquiry will scrutinise past incidents at the hospital, including those subject to serious adverse event reviews (SAERs), assess the hospital’s responses, and determine whether necessary improvements were implemented. Additionally, it will examine patient and carer escalation systems, particularly the REACH (Recognise, Engage, Act, Call, Help) protocol, which was found to be insufficiently accessible in Joe Massa’s case.

The inquiry will also evaluate the hospital’s measures to prevent adverse events, as well as staff standards and capabilities. Park noted that a previous parliamentary inquiry in 2019 examined the hospital’s operations and management. The upcoming inquiry will specifically focus on patient safety and care quality while considering whether past recommendations have been acted upon.

Public Accounts Committee chair Jason Yat-Sen Li expressed his commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation. “I understand the strong community interest in this matter, and I am confident the committee is well placed to undertake this important inquiry,” he said. “I am determined to get this inquiry underway as quickly as possible, but I also want to get it right. We will announce the opening of submissions as well as hearing dates in due course.”

The NSW Health Services Union (HSU), which has raised concerns about the hospital’s operations since its opening in 2018, said the investigation is long overdue. “We have consistently seen evidence that Northern Beaches Hospital prioritises commercial interests over patient care,” said HSU secretary Gerard Hayes.

“From renting out maternity wards to film crews while mothers struggle with understaffed services, to charging grieving families unnecessary fees to release their loved ones’ bodies – these practices reveal a disturbing pattern.

“We hope this inquiry will finally address the systemic issues our members have been reporting for years and put patients before profits at Northern Beaches Hospital.”

Sad new details emerge in Gene Hackman case

Authorities in New Mexico have shared a grim new update on the shocking deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife.

New information has suggested that the Hollywood actor, 95, and his wife, 63, had passed away in their home nine days before their bodies were found.

The bodies of the deceased couple, who were married for 24 years, were found by a maintenance worker who spotted their bodies through a window.

Authorities are yet to determine a cause of death for both Hackman and Arakawa but have repeatedly ruled out foul play.

In an investigation update on Friday, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said a pathologist had advised that tests for carbon monoxide poisoning were negative.

Mendoza also said the pathologist was given an insight into Hackman's last moments due to the activity in his pacemaker.

"An initial interrogation was conducted of Mr Hackman's pacemaker. This revealed that his last event was recorded on February 17th, 2025," he told reporters.

"It is a good assumption that was his last day of life."

However it remains unclear whether Hackman, who was found in the kitchen of the home, or Arakawa, who was located in a bathroom, died first.

One of the couple's dogs was also located deceased in the bathroom, while two other dogs were found alive at the property.

Alongside Arakawa's body, police found an orange prescription pill bottle in the bathroom and pills scattered across the floor.

While a toxicology report has been requested on the pills, as well as other medications found inside the house, the report could take months to be completed.

The discovery of the pills was described as "something of concern", with Mendoza telling NBC News: "That's obviously very important evidence at the scene".

Hackman appeared in more than 80 films throughout his career, as well as on television and the stage after his breakout role as the brother of bank robber Clyde Barrow in 1967's Bonnie and Clyde, earning him his first Oscar nomination.

He won an Oscar for best actor in 1972 for his portrayal of detective Popeye Doyle in The French Connection, and in 1993 won an Oscar for best supporting actor for Unforgiven.

Mum furious over grandmother’s refusal to use car seat for her child

A mother has voiced her frustration over her own mother’s major babysitting error.

The woman, who has a son of her own, shared that her parents regularly look after their grandchild, but has grown more and more annoyed that one request has been ignored.

In her lengthy post on Reddit, the woman wrote that her mother has taken her grandson in a car without a car seat more than once.

She wrote, "I'm livid and won't be letting her take him out again but needed to vent. My parents look after my son for me now and again, he loves them, and they love him, but my mom is really testing me. Twice now she has had him in someone's car without his car seat."

She continued: "The first time it happened, I didn't let her see him for a month. I knew they were taking him out and had left his car seat for them, but she didn't use it as they were only 'going around the corner.' I screamed and shouted about her putting my son at risk.”

“She tried to backtrack and lie her way out of it, but at the end of the day, she disrespected me."

"That was almost a year ago; yesterday, she had him as I had work in London, and hubby was at work; she said they were taking him out and promised she would use the car seat. I stressed to her how she won't see him again if they don't use it and guess what, they didn't use it."

The end of the post reads: "I'm livid, I'm going to see her today to shout and give an ultimatum, why don't people listen?! 'Oh, he was fine. We only went two streets away. You're being dramatic…'"

"'Dramatic' when there's an insane storm going on, and anything could have happened. [She] won't be having him again. I feel like a d*** for trusting and believing her.”

Hundreds of comments poured in from other mothers backing up the woman’s decision, as one person wrote, "She is playing Russian roulette with your child's life. Stay strong in this decision."

Another simply wrote, “Why even take the risk? Why?!"

"We'll miss him terribly": Alex Cullen steps down from Today

Alex Cullen is "stepping down permanently" from Today after accepting a huge cash prize from billionaire Adrian Portelli.

After Cullen referred to Portelli as "McLaren Man" on the Channel Nine morning show and pocketed $50,000 for using Portelli's preferred moniker, Cullen disappeared from screens for several days for breaching the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) Journalist Code of Ethics.

Despite handing the money back, which has since been donated to charity, Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo confirmed on Friday morning that Cullen would not be retuning to the show.

“As most of you are well aware, our colleague Alex Cullen has not been on air with us this past week,” Stefanovic said.

“There has been widespread reporting on the circumstances surrounding this, what I can say is that last night, Alex and Nine agreed that he would finish with the network."

“Alex has, of course, been part of the Today family for five years now, he’s always ready with a smile and a laugh and without hesitation speaking for all of us here, we can say that we are going to miss him terribly, that’s for sure."

“Alex is a terrific fella, what you see is what you get and he has been a great mate to all of us over these years and we wish Alex, his wife Bonnie and his beautiful kids all the very best for the future.”

The scandal began when Portelli put a call out on social media, challenging journalists to refer to him publicly as "McLaren Man" instead of his common nickname "Lambo Guy", which he earned after showing up to The Block auctions in a bright yellow Lamborghini.

Portelli said whoever completed the challenge would earn a hefty cash prize, and after Cullen used the new nickname live on Today just hours later, Portelli shared a screenshot of a bank transfer to Cullen for a whopping $50,000.

Prince Harry settles high-profile case against UK tabloids

Prince Harry has settled his high-profile lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch's The Sun newspaper in a UK court.

As a result of the settlement, the UK tabloid made an unprecedented apology to the royal for intruding on his personal life, and also acknowledged intruding on the private life of his mother, the late Princess Diana.

Prince Harry's attorney David Sherborne read from settlement statement in court, which states that News Group Newspapers offered a "full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for the serious intrusion by The Sun between 1996 and 2011 into his private life, including incidents of unlawful activities carried out by private investigators working for The Sun."

News Group acknowledged "phone hacking, surveillance and misuse of private information by journalists and private investigators" aimed at Harry, despite NGN having strongly denied those allegations before trial.

The publishers also "further apologise to the Duke for the impact on him of the extensive coverage and serious intrusion into his private life as well as the private life of Diana, Princess of Wales, his late mother, in particular during his younger years."

The statement further read, "We acknowledge and apologise for the distress caused to the Duke, and the damage inflicted on relationships, friendships and family, and have agreed to pay him substantial damages."

It was the first time News Group Newspapers has acknowledged wrongdoing at The Sun, a paper once known for featuring topless women on Page 3.

Harry, 40, and one other man were the only two remaining claimants out of more than 1300 others who had settled lawsuits against News Group Newspapers over allegations their phones were hacked and investigators unlawfully intruded in their lives.

"This represents a vindication for the hundreds of other claimants who were strong-armed into settling without being able to get to the truth of what was done to them," Sherborne said outside the High Court in London.

The outcome in the News Group case raises questions about how Harry's third case — against the publisher of the Daily Mail which is scheduled for next year — will proceed.

"29-year-old child": Footy great slams Nick Kyrgios

AFL Premiership winner Kane Cornes has slammed Nick Kyrgios after the tennis superstar has been making headlines for his Australian Open exit.

There have been plenty of stories about the tennis player's fitness and his future in the sport, and Cornes, who is now one of the most outspoken members of the sporting media has had enough of the Kyrgios drama.

“I just feel we talk about this guy too much,” Cornes began on SEN 1116 radio.

“I understand why, but he’s absolutely dominated the headlines in the last two-to-three weeks in the lead-up to the Australian Open.

“That’s not unusual, that happens, and we’re not going to hear the last of him.

“I feel like his role in the game will be significant whether he’s playing or not because he is box office.

“And despite him being our most disappointing Australian athlete ever, he will still have a role to play because people are interested in him.”

“This is a guy who sits there and criticises everyone else,” Cornes continued.

“He sits on his high horse and criticises everyone, be that ball kids, line judges, other opponents.

“Look at the class which Roger Federer or other players with a similar level of talent as Nick carried themselves.

“He’s a child. He’s a 29-year-old child. The way that he carries himself, the ambassador that he’s been, put all that in the mix, I think no one has disappointed more.

“No one has been spoken about more with less results than this guy over a long period of time.

“Yet still, here we are, and I get it and it’s a credit to him that people are interested in him, that we’re still talking about him.”

Kyrgios has hit back at the comments on X, saying that Cornes' criticism was unfounded.

"Gotta love comments from an athlete who didn't play a global sport," he posted.

Social media users were quick to share their own opinions on disappointing athletes in response to Cornes' comments, with one person writing: “He’s not even the most disappointing tennis player. Tomic has him well covered.”

Another sports fan said: “Cmon guys... Nick is Nick but that Raygun could not even be defined as an athlete so she leads the list of ‘international disgraces’ and its daylight to second, whoever that may be.”

However others backed Kyrgios, with one writing: “Nick has played in an era where there are 3 absolute legends of the game who have dominated and he’s beaten all 3 something no one else has managed to do!! Wake up you clowns comparing Nick to Raygun, Ben Simmons, Tomic, Jarryd Hayne etc absolute disgrace you guys are!”

Image: Channel 7/ Rachel Bach/Shutterstock Editorial
